  • Come Alive! | Judah Thomas

When Jesus died His followers thought it was ___________.

[Luke 24:1-8] But very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. [2] They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. [3] So they went in, but they didn't find the body of the Lord Jesus. [4] As they stood there puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes. [5] The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, "Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? [6] He isn't here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, [7] that the Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again on the third day." [8] Then they remembered that he had said this.

Jesus was ________________ to never ___________ again.

Jesus alone __________________________ His death and resurrection, and pulled it off.

[John 11:25] Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.

Jesus destroyed the power of _____________ over your life.

When you __________________ in Jesus, He gives you the same ___________________ He has.

[Romans 8:10-11] And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. [11] The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

The same ________________ who raised Jesus to life wants to raise ________________ up.

[John 10:10 ESV] The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

Jesus wants you to come ________________!

  • ANOTHER: Mission of the Spirit | Judah Thomas

The Holy Spirit is here to ________________ and ________________ us to do the will of God.

[Matthew 28:16-20] Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. [17] When they saw him, they worshiped him--but some of them doubted! [18] Jesus came and told his disciples, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. [19] Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. [20] Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

The primary work of the Holy Spirit is to ________________ people to ________________.

[Acts 1:6-9] So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, "Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?" [7] He replied, "The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know. [8] But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere--in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

The Holy Spirit draws people to Jesus by ________________ them of their sins.

[John 16:8-15] And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God's righteousness, and of the coming judgment. [9] The world's sin is that it refuses to believe in me. [10] Righteousness is available because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more.

The HS doesn't point out sin to bring __________________, but to bring ___________________.

________________ is what separates people from God.

[Matthew 5:20] "But I warn you--unless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven!

[John 15:26-27] "But I will send you the Advocate--the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me. [27] And you must also testify about me because you have been with me from the beginning of my ministry.

God uses us to ____________________ His work.

  • ANOTHER: Gifts of the Spirit | Judah Thomas

[1 Corinthians 12:7] A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.

[John 4:23-24] But the time is coming--indeed it's here now--when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. [24] For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth."

God is the __________________ yesterday, today and forever.

[1 Thessalonians 5:19-21 NIV] Do not quench the Spirit. [20] Do not treat prophecies with contempt [21] but test them all; hold on to what is good.

God wants to move in a __________________ way in your life.

[Romans 12:6-8] In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. [7] If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. [8] If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

The Holy Spirit has __________________ that He can work through you.

The Holy Spirit gives us gifts to __________________ others and __________________ Jesus.

[1 Corinthians 12:8-11] To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. [9] The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. [10] He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. [11] It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

The church isn't __________________ without your gift.

[1 Peter 4:10-11 NLT] God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. [11] Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ.

Use your gift as if God is __________________ through you.

  • ANOTHER: Evidence of the Spirit | Judah Thomas

[Luke 6:43-45] "A good tree can't produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can't produce good fruit. [44] A tree is identified by its fruit. Figs are never gathered from thornbushes, and grapes are not picked from bramble bushes. [45] A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.

What is in your ________________ determines the ________________ you bear.

There is a ________________ between what the Holy Spirit wants and what ________________ want.

[Galatians 5:16-17] So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves. [17] The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.

You can't fight your _________ ______________ on your own.

[Galatians 5:19-21] When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, [20] idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, [21] envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Ungodly fruit demonstrates we are living a _______________-led life rather than a ________________-led one.

[Galatians 5:22-23] But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [23] gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

The Holy Spirit will bring a noticeable change in your ________________ & ________________.

Our ________________ is revealed by the fruit we produce.

[Galatians 5:24-26] Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. [25] Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit's leading in every part of our lives. [26] Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.

The Holy Spirit empowers us to live a ________________-________________ life.

[John 15:5, 7] "Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. [7] But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!

  • ANOTHER: Walking with the Spirit | Judah Thomas

It is impossible to live the Christian life without the ________________ ________________.

[John 14:16-17 ESV] And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, [17] even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

The Holy Spirit is God's Spirit ________________ with us ________________.

[Psalm 139:7] I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!

There is ________________ available to you through the Holy Spirit.

[Acts 1:8] But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere--in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

If you ________________ the Holy Spirit you are ignoring ________________.

[Acts 2:37-38] Peter's words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, "Brothers, what should we do?" [38] Peter replied, "Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

God wants to ________________ you to do the work He has called you to.

[Galatians 5:25-26] Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit's leading in every part of our lives. [26] Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.

God doesn't send His power ________________ you get it right; He sends it so you ________________ get it right.

    [Ezekiel 36:26-27]

And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. [27] And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.

  • Unstable: Self-Deception | Judah Thomas

You have an __________________ capacity for self-deception.

[Matthew 23:29-30] "What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you build tombs for the prophets your ancestors killed, and you decorate the monuments of the godly people your ancestors destroyed. [30] Then you say, 'If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would never have joined them in killing the prophets.'

When we deceive ourselves we are __________________ to repeat the __________________.

[Matthew 12:14] Then the Pharisees called a meeting to plot how to kill Jesus.

If we don't learn from the past we repeat the past __________________ over and over.

[Revelation 3:17] You say, 'I am rich. I have everything I want. I don't need a thing!' And you don't realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.

We can't change the cycle of self-deception without God's ______________________.

[1 John 1:8-10 NIV] If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. [9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. [10] If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

    Self-deception is rooted in __________________.

[James 1:22 NIV] Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

    Knowledge without _____________________ is self-deception.

[Psalm 139:23-24] Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. [24] Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

  • Unstable: In Conflict | Judah Thomas

    How you handle conflict _________________.

[Proverbs 29:11 NIV] Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end.

Don't allow conflict to _______________________ your life.

[Proverbs 15:1 NIV] A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

We can either _________________ the flames of conflict or we can ______________________ them.

The more I raise my _________________ the more I lower my ______________________.

[Luke 6:27-30] "But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. [28] Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. [29] If someone slaps you on one cheek, offer the other cheek also. If someone demands your coat, offer your shirt also. [30] Give to anyone who asks; and when things are taken away from you, don't try to get them back.

Jesus wants you to give up your right to _______________.

[Romans 12:17-19] Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. [18] Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. [19] Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord.

God want us to respond to conflict with ________________.

[Colossians 3:13-14] Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. [14] Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.

We need to be the ones who take the __________________ to resolve conflict.

  • Unstable: Double-Minded | Judah Thomas

A double-minded person is __________________ in their thoughts, actions and behaviors.

[James 1:5 NIV] If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

Wisdom is the ability to apply __________________.

[James 1:6 NIV] But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

Do you believe that God ___________ and ____________ move on your behalf?

[James 1:7-8 NIV] That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. [8] Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

We can't __________________ anything from God if we aren't walking in faith.

    Double-mindedness produces __________________.

It's normal to have __________________, but we can't let it __________________ over.

[Hebrews 11:6] And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

You can't have a solid _________________ without trust.

[Matthew 6:24] "No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

We need to let go of the things __________________ us away from God?

[1 Kings 18:21] Then Elijah stood in front of them and said, "How much longer will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!" But the people were completely silent.
