There is something deep inside of us that wants to ________________ someone.
Isaiah 9:6-7 For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity.
A good king gives ________________.
Psalm 91:1-2 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.
A good king offers ________________.
Galatians 5:1 So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.
A good king brings ________________.
John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
Jesus left his ________________ to come and bring ________________ to earth.
Philippians 2:9-11 God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Jesus is not just the king that we ________________, but the king that we ________________.
Jesus is not just A king. He is ________________ king.
The best gift we can give our King is _________ ________.
Let Jesus be your ________________ not your ________________.

On Wednesday, December 22 Thrive had their first Candlelight Service in honor of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
[Isaiah 9:2] The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.
[John 1:1-5, 9-12 NIV] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] He was with God in the beginning. [3] Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. [4] In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. [5] The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. [9] The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. [10] He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. [11] He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. [12] Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--
[John 8:12] Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
[Ephesians 5:8-11] For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light!
[John 1:9-10] The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. [10] He came into the very world he created, but the world didn't recognize him.
Jesus came to bring ________________ into the world.
[Luke 3:15] Everyone was expecting the Messiah to come soon, and they were eager to know whether John might be the Messiah.
God's ________________ is always better than our _______________________.
[Romans 15:13 NIV] May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is the hope of the ________________, and He is the hope for ________________.
[Psalm 42:5] Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again--my Savior and my God!
No situation is ____________________ when your hope is in ________________.
[Psalm 33:20-22] We put our hope in the LORD. He is our help and our shield. [21] In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. [22] Let your unfailing love surround us, LORD, for our hope is in you alone.
Real hope is hoping even when things seem ____________________.
My hope is not ________________ by the ________________ I face.
________________ your hope is in is greater that ________________ you are hoping for.
[Isaiah 40:31 NIV] but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
____________________ can be a side-effect of expectation.
[Romans 8:18-22 NIV] I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
Sometimes our frustration is rooted in _________________.
[Philippians 4:11-12 NLT] Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. [12] I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.
I am ____________________ with where I am, but I am ____________________ God to move in greater ways in the future.
If you can trust God with your ____________________ and ____________________, you can also trust Him with your ____________________.
Don't let your present ____________________ take your eyes off of your future ____________________.
[Hebrews 11:1 NLT] Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
When I have everything ____________________ God I have nothing; but when I have nothing ______________ my God then I have it all.
[Psalm 16:5-9 GNT] You, Lord, are all I have, and you give me all I need; my future is in your hands. [6] How wonderful are your gifts to me; how good they are! [7] I praise the Lord, because he guides me, and in the night my conscience warns me. [8] I am always aware of the Lord's presence; he is near, and nothing can shake me. [9] And so I am thankful and glad, and I feel completely secure,
Although ____________________ may not go my way, my God is for me.
[Isaiah 40:31 ESV] but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
God wants us to live with __________________.
[Acts 3:3-10 NIV] When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. [4] Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, "Look at us!" [5] So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. [6] Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." [7] Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong. [8] He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. [9] When all the people saw him walking and praising God, [10] they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
We can expect __________________ things when we understand the __________________ of God.
[Ephesians 3:20] Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
Put your __________________ in God.
[Mark 10:47-52] When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus of Nazareth was nearby, he began to shout, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" [48] "Be quiet!" many of the people yelled at him. But he only shouted louder, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" [49] When Jesus heard him, he stopped and said, "Tell him to come here." So they called the blind man. "Cheer up," they said. "Come on, he's calling you!" [50] Bartimaeus threw aside his coat, jumped up, and came to Jesus. [51] "What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked. "My rabbi," the blind man said, "I want to see!" [52] And Jesus said to him, "Go, for your faith has healed you." Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road.
We won't see the __________________ things of life if we don't have __________________ in God.
Expectation and __________________ go hand in hand.
[Psalm 130:5 MEV] I wait for the Lord, with bated breath I wait; I long for His Word!
You often get what you __________________ to get.
[Romans 8:24-25 NIV] For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? [25] But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
___________________ will spark joy in your life.
[Philippians 3:1] Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you these things, and I do it to safeguard your faith.
We rejoice in Lord because He is ___________________!
[Psalm 73:26] My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.
I don't need good _________________________ to have joy.
[Psalm 34:1-8] A psalm of David, regarding the time he pretended to be insane in front of Abimelech, who sent him away. I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak his praises. [2] I will boast only in the LORD; let all who are helpless take heart. [3] Come, let us tell of the LORD's greatness; let us exalt his name together. [4] I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. [5] Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. [6] In my desperation I prayed, and the LORD listened; he saved me from all my troubles. [7] For the angel of the LORD is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him. [8] Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!
The ___________________ of God is so much greater than the ___________________ of this life.
[Psalm 84:10] A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.
A bad day with the ___________________ is better than a good day _________ __________ ____________.
[Philippians 3:8-9a] Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ [9] and become one with him.
The good things in life are ______________ if I don't have Jesus.
[Psalm 16:11 ESV] You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
God's ___________________ is more important than His ___________________.
[Philippians 3:13-14, 20-21] No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, [14] I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. [20] But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. [21] He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.
[Philippians 4:4-7 NIV] Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! [5] Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. [6] Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. [7] And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
___________________ is a quick path to joy.
If we fail to choose gratitude we default to ___________________.
Gratitude is recognizing that life owes me _______________ and every good thing I have is a _______________.
[Luke 17:16-19] He fell to the ground at Jesus' feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan. [17] Jesus asked, "Didn't I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? [18] Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?" [19] And Jesus said to the man, "Stand up and go. Your faith has healed you."
Thanksgiving attracts God's ___________________.
[Psalm 103:1-5] A psalm of David. Let all that I am praise the LORD; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. [2] Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me. [3] He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. [4] He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. [5] He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle's!
It takes ___________________ to be thankful.
[2 Corinthians 12:7-10] So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud. [8] Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. [9] Each time he said, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. [10] That's why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
We can be thankful for our ___________________ because God is working through them.
[1 Thessalonians 5:16-18] Always be joyful. [17] Never stop praying. [18] Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
