In the Pixar film “Up,” we are introduced to a slogan stating: “ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE!” For many of us, we truly believe that - that real adventure is out “There” somewhere - while we are stuck right “Here,” in the throes of everyday, normal life. We can spend an inordinate amount of time wishing away the one day we have been given in favor of fantasizing about what could be in some grand tomorrow; while important and often critical moments pass us by.  

What if the work is the reward? What if the prize is in the process? What if we learned to be grateful in the everyday grind of life?

When it comes to our finances, or financial resources, many of us tend to hang on tight to everything we have for fear of being without. But Scripture teaches something different - something greater - for our lives. What if instead of hanging on to what we have, we release it so God could give us more? And what if it wasn't just about money, but about our faith? What if us going to new levels in other areas of our lives was bound up in the truth that what we keep is all we have; but whatever we give, God multiples?

In a lot of ways, we live in a culture of self-promotion. From influencers and celebrities to businesses and ministries, we spend a lot of time and effort (not to mention resources) trying to “get noticed” for what we do and become great at it. What we often fail to realize is, that is exactly the opposite of what Jesus taught His followers to do. In this message, we will learn that when you serve more, you take less. When you give more, you need less. When you thank more, you want less. In other words, when there’s more of God, you’re selfless.

We are starting the new year off looking at how we can take the focus off of us, and put the focus on God and others. Many people will make New Years Resolutions, as a way to improve themselves; but it is actually in denying ourselves that God can do so much more in our lives. This week, we look at the importance of being bold in sharing our faith - even though for most of us, it is not easy.
