          • Feeling Welcomed in the Corporate Workplace as an Immigrant with Fatim Mbaye

Feeling warmly welcomed in a new environment is crucial for our development and growth. And when it comes to the workplace, it is an essential factor that helps immigrant employees keep their enthusiasm and sense of belonging.

Unfortunately, this is an ideal situation that not everyone gets to experience when they first start their career in corporate.

Fatim's corporate journey has been the ideal scenario when it comes to being welcomed to the workplace. Throughout this conversation, she shares how she found value in an inclusive culture at work and how her peers' intentional efforts helped her feel well received as an immigrant at the very beginning of her career.

Listen until the end of this episode to learn how immigrants can be a part of the D&I conversation, tips on how to integrate yourself into the workplace, and more.

🎙️ Welcome to Thriving in Intersectionality – The Podcast

            Hosted by Dr. Lola Adeyemo

Welcome to the Thriving in Intersectionality Podcast—a space created to amplify the voices of professionals whose stories too often go unheard.

This podcast explores what it means to navigate the workplace with layered identities:
            🌍 Immigrants
            👩🏾‍💼 Women
            🎓 First-gen professionals
🎙️ Ethnic minorities, and so many more.

In this introductory episode, I share the why behind the podcast—why it started, what it stands for, and who it’s for. As an immigrant, a mom, and a workplace inclusion strategist, I know firsthand that success in Corporate America is about more than qualifications. It’s about culture, identity, and community.

Through real conversations with professionals from across the globe, we’ll explore:

            • What belonging really looks like at work

            • The barriers we often face—but rarely name

            • And the stories behind our resumes

If you’ve ever felt unseen at work—or if you lead, manage, or mentor people from diverse backgrounds—this podcast is for you.
