Thriving in Singleness

Faith Boisen joines us for our Valentines Day special and a lot has changed since was on the podcast back in June. She met someone online and is now engaged to be married in the spring. We talk about online dating, and how to tell if your heart is in the right place to try it out, as well as loneliness and the role it has in desiring a relationship in the midst of our desire for God. John, an actor living in New York City, discusses his journey of working towards his acting career in the midst of finding himself after years of being in relationships. John talks about why it's so beneficial to seek mentorship, and in many cases, a therapist, as well as how we often "white knuckle" the steering wheel, trying to maintain control over every aspect of our lives. 

Darra shares about her inspiration for working with refugees in Greece, and how God is working internationally.  She encourages everyone to get out of their comfort zone and explore the opportunities of serving internationally.

Larissa gives her side of the story of My Story Pt. 2 where my flawlessly executed proposal falls perfectly into place by the grace of God. We had a lot of fun puting this edit together, and I hope you enjoy this story, and the inspiration of this podcast. This story is the result of an absurd amount of faith in what God can really do. I locked Larissa in the studio so she could pick apart my story and make sure you're filled in with the details. Layne Bowser is a graduate from Baylor University Living in Waco, Texas. She works for Magnolia and has found wonderful community that welcomed her in and helped her call Waco her home. Layne shares about how trusting God in singleness allows her to enjoy social events at a different level. She no longer replays every conversation in her head when she goes home and doesn't feel the pressure to be some she is not. She also shares about how in a previous relationship she was unequally yoked and why it was not God honoring. Check out the episode, as the conversation packs a ton of value about both singleness and relationships.

This episode I had a discussion with LJ Clements from the Living Out Loud With LJ Clements Podcast about where God has him and what he is teaching him about singleness. He openly shared how he wants to surrender his desire for marriage to God, but hasn't been able to completely. It's not easy to do! He shares for his desire to surrender to God in all areas in his life. If surrendering to God is difficult to do, pray for the ability to surrender, so God can step in on our weakness. Listen along as we discuss the desire to surrender. 

After going through a difficult divorce, Caleb shares his steps afterwards in finding himself, gaining a better understanding of who he is and how to approach life moving forward. Fresh off a six week road trip, he has been given a lot of deep thought to what his next steps will be in life, and how to handle difficult steps following a divorce or breaking, as well as things to strongly consider when in a dating relationship and looking towards marriage.
