In Chapter 13 Celaena begins training harder to get stronger for the competition. We meet Princess Nehemia Ytger of Eyllwe and she asks Celaena to keep her company while she is at the castle. We have our first Chaol POV and learn that someone has killed a few royal hounds and their half eaten remains were found in the castle.

In Chapter 12 Celaena is introduced to the other 23 competitors and finds out what their previous “occupations” were. She meets Brullo, the Weapon’s Master, and they all go for a training run.

Today is a double chapter episode! In Chapters 9 & 10 Celaena (aka Lillian Gordaina) finally comes face to face with the King of Adarlan again. She gets a glimpse of her fellow competitors and meets Lady Kaltain Rompier after the flower pot incident in the garden.

In Chapter 8 Chaol gives Celaena a tour of the stone castle and grounds. We get our first look at the wyrdstone tower in the gardens, Celaena drools over the library, and there is some hilarious banter between her and Dorian.

The caravan arrives in Rifthold to quite a greeting from the citizens in Chapter 7. Most importantly, we get our first scene with the King of Adarlan.
