Self-deception has a sneaky way of evolving over time. It disguises itself as true identity, while the core of who we are gets neglected with each traumatic or escapist experience. Yet, not everyone is living a lie. Some of us live fulfilling lives of truth, while others accept life for what it is. The difference between the two? Perception!

Perhaps that’s why it’s always "POE THE GANG" frequency when I cross paths with the hip-hop contributor/musician, skilled astrologer, poet, and writer himself, Naafie. Not only is he gifted—an entrepreneur and innovator—but he is also dedicated to helping individuals understand that how you see your life is how you treat your life. And I'm honored to have him on this week's podcast episode.

As a woman who is very intuitive, it’s easy to assume I fully understand the journey or processes of a man—specifically, a Black man. More times than not, I’ve misunderstood the nuances that come with their experience. My friend Eezy Olah—MC, musician, producer, engineer, and philanthropist in his own damn right—has expressed his evolvement as a Black male time and time again, always echoing the importance of making better choices as the leaders of our culture. But even with me engaging in millions of conversations with him about this topic and other melanated men, one truth remains: only they can truly speak for their experience.

On the night of November 5th, it all happened so quickly. I wasn't terrified like before, but this time, I was baffled by the audacity of misogyny and the irritating disrespect still being prioritized in America in the year of two thousand and twenty-five. Yet, amidst all the emotions, there she was—my sister, Queen Ameenah, aka Cupcake—ready to listen and articulate the positions we should assume as Black women. No rookie to the game of community activism and leadership, the transformative speaker planted her feet in her stance and passionately echoed that in this season, under this new but familiar administration, women, specifically Black women, need to reaffirm themselves. And I'm so glad to share this audio with you today.
