After Marquez, Abraham (surprise from non team ducati) and cal Crutchlow on non team honda took the 1st 3 position sin qualifying, the actual race told a different story. Maverick Vignales started in second row but ran another strong race and finished 1st again, with Rossi, who started in 3rd row, ran a brilliant race, beating out Crutchlow in a hard fought race for second. Crutchlow came in 3rd and Marquez unfortunately crashed out and did not finish. Zarco who I mentioned in the 1st race as making a good showing for a newbie, came in a very commendable 5th

Wow, This turned into one great show.  As always we start off our motorcycle podcast by talking about riding them.  While Larry only got out on a short ride, he was able to travel up to Tahoe to hear his sons’ band play.  Kevin on the other hand was able to get in around 160 miles over the weekend, he had plans for more but decided to not travel down gravel roads in the middle of nowhere alone.

Movie Review:

CHIPS – Kevin was able to catch the movie CHIPS, overall he recommends you not pay to see it by yourself unless crude humor is what you enjoy, however the riding and motorcycles are really where this movie shines.

Interesting interview with Steve Menneto, President of motorcycles at Polaris. High points are:

* Anticipating that Indian will come out with more modern styled bikes to appeal to younger riders.

* Indian will continue the race programs of Victory, including Isle of Man TT and Pike’s peak

* Indian will be coming out with a new electric bike designed more for cruising than commuting

* Indian plans to expand into other markets such as far East and Europe with new, smaller displacement bikes

* Indian plans to design bikes based on their experience with smaller V-twin such as their flat racer, but not the actual bike itself as it is a race only model.

Another 1-2 for Indian. Bryan smith this time over Jarod Mees. Harley factory 6th. The older Harley xr750r non factory harley did finish 3rd, ridden by Sammy Halbert. Readers comments suggest the new factory Harley’s don’t have enough power to compete with the Indians. Kenny Coolberth finished 6th in the factory Harley xg750r.  More info on the results.

Motogp is in Argentina next weekend for the 2nd race of the season.

Harley announces a special Road King.  Larry wonders if it should have a windshield, overall I think we like the look of the bike.  Nice to see Harley doing something different, even if it is a lack of chrome.

The big HD also announces that they plan to announce 50 models over the next 5 years.  The question is will these be different versions of current bikes (see the “new” Road King announcement above), or truly new models…time will tell.

What does a motorcyclist do when the red light won’t change, in these 16 states there is a law for that.
