Ford and Executive Vice President Dr Craig-Ellis Sasser sit with Marketing and Public Relations Specialist Liz Roark to talk about the start of the academic year at one of the nation's top community colleges. Ford discusses a recent announcement from the Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) in the state of Mississippi that named Northeast the top community college in preparing its students for life at an institute of higher learning. Northeast transfers and graduates routinely score higher than native students at four-year colleges and universities. Not only did Ford praise Northeast, but the veteran educator gave credit to the entire community college system for preparing students for the road ahead. Northeast students routinely had grade point averages higher than those who started out at a four-year college or university. Sasser comes on board to talk about the college's CORE Learning Outcomes and how that has helped prepare students when they choose to not only transfer to an institute of higher learning but seek out employment in the workforce. In addition to talking about the COVID protocols, Ford talks about the Back-To-School Luau on Monday, August 15, where some 400 students got the chance to mingle with their friends at the Gaye Roden Carr Aquatic Center, and Ford re-emphasizes the need for more events on campus to help the college to return to normal. Northeast Mississippi Community College president Dr. Ricky G. Ford and Roark discuss the announcement that the college will get a master-level counselor on the Booneville campus for two days a week to help evaluate student mental health. Ford talks about some shocking statistics from a 2021 survey of Northeast students concerning their mental health and addresses what the college is doing to help bolster the mental health of its students. In the second part of the interview, Ford talks about the recently announced Veterans Pass available to all military men and women by contacting the President's Office on campus. The pass gets all military members into any Northeast event - athletic or otherwise -  for free. In a brief Northeast News section, Ford talks about the upcoming school year, how the college is preparing for the influx of students coming to campus in less than a week, and how Northeast employees are constantly improving how they do their jobs to help prepare students for life after Northeast.

Northeast Mississippi Community College president Dr. Ricky G. Ford and Roark discuss the days and times for iPad pick-up at the college for first-year students and how the process will work and then transition into talking about dorm move-in and how the move into the college's five residence halls will progress. One positive that came from the COVID 19 pandemic was a sense of order in the dorm move-in process, as instead of everyone moving in on one day; move in will be broken up over three days with even numbered rooms moving in from 8 a.m. until noon and odd numbered rooms moving in from 1-5 p.m. Depending on what floor the student is living on will determine what day they need to move into the residence halls. Ford and Roark also give nearly a 10-minute run down of events and happenings at Northeast, including an extensive list of what is happening at our satellite locations.

As the 2022 Fall semester approaches, Northeast Mississippi Community College's TigerTalk has reinvented itself by bringing over Liz Roark, the college's Marketing, Recruiting, and Public Relations Specialist from the Northeast NOW podcast to work side-by-side with Northeast president Dr. Ricky G. Ford on Mississippi's longest-running community college podcast. In this short 10-minute segment, Roark and Ford discuss the recent CPR and AED training on campus and the importance of having as many employees certified in the process of CPR as possible just in case an unfortunate event should unfold. Ford and Roark talk about a pair of grants that the college has recently received 1) a grant from the Women's Foundation of Mississippi that will help the college's health science students and 2) a grant from the Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation of Mississippi that is tied in with the Tobacco Coalition to help promote a tobacco-free campus and that includes not only tobacco, smokeless tobacco such as chew and dip but also vapes and other forms that are now in use. In the final segment of the podcast, the duo discusses some of the Northeast News that has happened over the last week or so and some of the upcoming events that are on the docket for the fall semester.

Northeast Mississippi Community College president Dr. Ricky G. Ford returns with another installment of Mississippi's longest-running community college podcast. In this 203rd episode, President Ford discusses how busy the summer has been at one of the country's top community colleges with summer school, camps, and training for employees. Northeast personnel are currently undergoing CPR training to have 3-5 people in each building certified in the life-saving process to keep the college's students both protected and safe. Ford encourages all employees to do what they can to keep enrollment ahead of the numbers of the last two years. Ford says that one-third (1/3) of the college's enrollment registers in July/August, so there is a need for help, and some faculty members are being brought in to help keep those numbers ahead. In addition to keeping enrollment numbers up, Ford reminds listeners that the college is open for registration for those wanting to come to school, Continuing Education, Workforce, Adult Education, and anyone wishing to further their education. Ford reminds listeners that the Voice & Votes exhibit will remain in the Anderson Hall Auditorium through mid-August. Ford talks about InService on Wednesday, August 10, while Patterson Hall will see a pair of Mini-Conference days like those that started the 2022 Spring semester. Mini-Conference dates are set for Monday, August 8 and Tuesday, August 9 and should run for the majority of the morning. In addition to the Mini-Conference, Northeast will welcome students back on campus starting Monday, August 8, for iPad pickup and a pair of Strategic Doing Committees will be on hand to help train students on the device and prepare them for the first day of school. Ford announces that the description for the eSports coach is almost done and that the college will be adding that to its offerings for students very soon. Ford thanks the members of the Facilities Operation department for being able to manage over 22 different projects at one time, including overseeing the volleyball locker room, outdoor classrooms, landscaping in the heat, dorm renovations along with assisting with a new roof in New Albany, the phase II of the MDOT beautification/safety project and many other projects that help to make Northeast one of the top community colleges in the country.

Northeast Mississippi Community College president Dr. Ricky G. Ford returns with another installment of Mississippi's longest-running community college podcast. In this 202nd episode, President Ford discusses an MOU that has been signed with Dr. Dennis here in Booneville to help provide healthcare for Northeast employees and students. The veteran educator encourages those wanting to know more to wait until the official announcement comes later in the fall semester. In addition to not only helping the employees and students of Northeast's Booneville campus, Northeast's employees and students at satellite locations are also in on the deal. Ford also discusses the surge in COVID numbers in the state and talks about the pattern people have gotten into due to the pandemic and wanting to work from home. Ford discusses the advantages and disadvantages of that scenario and talks about the need for all employees to be back at full force in the fall, talking to fellow employees, students and community members face-to-face and having that personal connection with the students that the college serves. Ford wants to ensure that students are prepared when they leave Northeast, and that's not only on the four-year level at an Institute of Higher Learning but even for those heading into the workforce after a terminal degree at Northeast. Ford talks about wanting to look over all programs, all academic programs and all offices to ensure that the employees of Northeast are serving students. Ford reminds listeners that Open Registration for the Fall 2022 semester has started, and everyone needs to pitch in to help keep enrollment as high as possible. In a few updates, Ford talks about the iPad Distribution for Students in the fall, happening from August 8-12 and then a Mini-Conference of Professional Development opportunities for all employees on Monday, August 8 and Tuesday, August 9, before all employees come together for the college's annual InService.
