In just under 11 minutes, Northeast president Ricky G. Ford thanks everyone for the calls, texts, letters, and concerns over the passing of his mother last week. In a heartfelt message, Ford expresses thanks to the Northeast family for making sure his family was comforted in this time of sorrow. In an update to the Strategic Doing committees, Ford talks about the total involvement that everyone has on the Strategic Doing committees and the ability for everyone on campus to have a voice through the committees. In keeping with his legislative update from last week, Ford discusses the upcoming pay increase that the Mississippi legislature has set aside for community college employees and after the 15 community colleges in the state get their share of the $11 million allocated...it comes out to a 3% across the board raise for all Northeast employees. In addition to the pay increase, Ford is thankful to the legislature for setting aside $7.5 million for Northeast for capital improvements and renovations. In a construction update, Ford talks about the Outdoor Classrooms, the MDOT Phase II Project, and the ongoing renovations to Seth Pounds Auditorium. Ford also discusses all the open positions that the college has after the announcement of 11 retirees for the 2021-2022 academic year and encourages anyone to apply for those positions and become part of the Northeast family and a member of one of the premier community colleges in the United States plus many more topics concerning Northeast Mississippi Community College.

In this week's episode, Northeast president Ricky G. Ford gives some great news to the employees of Northeast Mississippi Community College, the Mississippi Legislature is sending them a gift that will boost their pocketbooks in not only 2023 but 2024 as well. Tune into this week's podcast to see just how much the college will be able to increase employee pay. In addition to being able to award the hardest working employees in the nation, Ford talks about "Fan Day" at the NEMCC Baseball/Softball Complex on Wednesday, April 6 where the first 50 fans through the gates will receive a commemorative Northeast souvenir. First pitch is at 3 p.m. as the Tiger baseball team takes on East Mississippi and gates open at 2 p.m. Ford gives credit to the Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society with its recent awards at the Mississippi/Louisiana Regional convention where the PTK was named the Most Distinguished Chapter for the region and also was named the top REACH Award winner, which is given to the chapter that has the highest percentage of new members accepting membership into the society. Ford announces the four individuals who have been selected for the NEMCC Hall of Fame and reminds all that Honors Day is scheduled for Monday, April 18 at 6 p.m.

In this week's episode, Northeast president Ricky G. Ford returns from a two-week hiatus to inform the public about all the things happening at one of the top community colleges in the nation. Ford tells listeners that the college is on the downhill side of the semester and there are just a few weeks remaining until graduation and students will be leaving campus to transfer to four-year colleges and universities, picking up a trade or heading into the workforce with the best training that the college can give them. In an update on events, Ford talks about Sealant Day at the Dental Hygiene Program on the fourth floor of Childers Hall where second graders from around Prentiss County come in to get sealant placed on their teeth. This event also so interdivision cooperation as many of the health science programs come together to help make this event a success. Ford gives an update on events that include a giveaway by the Marketing/PR Committees of a commemorative golden stress ball with a Northeast logo at the April 6 baseball game and the April 12 softball game. The first 50 fans through the gates will get a chance at the giveaway. Ford also talks about the Mobile Learning Conference on June 13 and June 14, Priority Registration Day on April 8, Honors Day on April 18 and the final Campus Country showtime of the school year on April 21. Tickets are already on sale for the showtime and will sell out quickly so contact any member of the Division of Fine Arts for tickets. Ford discusses the upcoming Dual Enrollment Orientation on April 22 for those who may be considering dual enrolling in Northeast while still in high school and the summer freshman orientations on June 9, 16, 23 and July 12. In his final segment, the college president gives a rundown of what has been happening at the Mississippi legislature as it concerns funding, revenue and appropriation bills.

In this week's episode, Northeast president Ricky G. Ford shares information about many events happening on campus including the college's upcoming Spring Break. Ford gives a rundown on all the extracurricular activities such as baseball, softball, men and women's tennis, golf and archery all keeping the Sports Information Department at Northeast busy. Ford talks about the recent end to the men's and women's basketball seasons and how each competed in the NJCAA Region XXIII Tournament. In addition to talking about athletics, Ford gives a brief synopsis about the Strategic Doing committees on campus and the impact they are having when it comes to communication, safety, workforce and the needs of Northeast employees, students and community members. Ford reminds listeners of a return to normal at graduation this year with Health Sciences graduating on Thursday, May 12 and traditional graduation happening on Friday, May 13. Both commencement ceremonies will start at 6:30 p.m. instead of the usual 7 p.m. start time. Northeast will be busy following Spring Break with a myriad of events happening quickly with the high school art show wrapping up in the Anderson Hall Art Gallery on March 24, the annual Region IV Science Fair taking place on Friday, March 25; Advising Month and Advising Day on April 8, Honors Day and PTK Induction on April 18, Dual Enrollment Orientation on April 22 and regular orientation with four sessions a day at 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on June 9, 16, 23 and if necessary on July 12. If all those events were not enough, Northeast is also focusing efforts on 2100 West Chambers Drive (old Corinthian Furniture) to help businesses rent out the building while the college draws up plans for a state-of-the-art conference center and home for career and technical education, workforce, continuing education and many other programs at the college. Construction continues at Northeast with the building of outdoor classrooms in various spots on campus, the HVAC being replaced in Gordon and Hargett, the second round of the MDOT sidewalk/safety project and various other projects to help Northeast continue to be one of the top community colleges in the nation.

In this week's episode, Northeast president Ricky G. Ford also talks about the ways that Strategic Doing has undertaken to improve the quality between Northeast employees, students, and the community and each committee is working to make the college stronger and better. In a rundown of events, Ford talks about both the Lady Tiger and Tiger basketball teams making the Region XXIII Tournament and the men hosting the third round of the regional affair on Tuesday, March 1 at 6 p.m. in the Bonner Arnold Coliseum and the possibility of them advancing through the tournament and national tournament as well. Ford also talks about all the events happening on campus when it comes to baseball, softball, golf, tennis, and even the college's newest program -- archery, which has a match at Blue Mountain College on Tuesday, March 1 and then will officially open its tenure at Northeast at Mississippi College on Saturday, March 5. In addition to all the athletic events, the college is offering a variety of events throughout the spring semester such as the Campus Country concert in Hines Hall on March 3 and March 4, the annual Honors Day, and this year the PTK Spring Induction on April 18 and graduation in the Bonner Arnold Coliseum on May 12 and May 13. Ford talks about the Northeast Development Foundation and its recent announcement that the Franks Foundation has turned over $5.4 million to Northeast to help with scholarships and mentions that Thursday, March 3 is the athletic sponsor appreciation day at the Baseball/Softball Complex on 3rd Street. Ford announces who the college has hired to replace Beth Byrd as the Division Head of Math & Sciences....and that is...Andrea Mathis.

In this week's episode, Northeast president Ricky G. Ford shares a major change to graduation in May (May 12 and May 13 in the Bonner Arnold Coliseum). In addition to the major change to commencement ceremonies, Ford talks about all the events happening in and around Northeast and all that is going on with the college. Northeast athletics is seeing a majority of its sports teams in action this week and early next week with men and women's basketball participating in the Region XXIII Tournament, the baseball and softball teams with a variety of games, the tennis and golf programs taking advantage of the good weather and even the Northeast archery team with its 18 participants scheduling its first Match for Saturday, March 5. Ford reminds those who are interested in applying for the NEMCC Honors Institute that the deadline will fall on March 15 and talks about the college's upcoming Spring Break along with the college sharing its expertise with other colleges and universities across the world such as Pima Community College in Arizona. Ford gives an update on the Creating Futures through Technology Conference on the Mississippi Gulf Coast that Northeast is helping to sponsor and the Mobile Learning Conference that will happen virtually June 13 and June 14.
