  • Nick Eftimiades - China Policy, Public Opinion & Corporate Concerns
President Xi Jinping's popularity is soaring in China, but other nations have concerns about human rights violations, wolf-warrior diplomacy and a growing number of espionage cases. Professor Nick Eftimiades join us to discuss the geopolitical situation and the steps corporate America is taking to secure intellectual property.
Nick Eftimiades is an American government official, author, and educator best known for his work Chinese Intelligence Operations, written in (1994). Nick retired after a 34 year government career including employment in the CIA as a Technical Operations Officer, a Special Agent in the US Department of State, the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, and as a Senior Intelligence Officer in the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
Nick was also a Senior Research Fellow at King’s College War Studies Department, London UK. He has an M.S. in Strategic Intelligence, National Defense Intelligence College; and a B.A. East Asian Studies, George Washington University. He currently works as an assistant teaching professor in the Penn State Homeland Security Program.
On Aug 30th, 2022, Time Magazine described President Xi JinPing’s popularity within China as being higher than even Chairman Mao Tse Tung, estimated at 90% to 95%. Outside of China, Pew Research statistics show that only 17% of Americans view his administration favorably, and in 19 other industrial nations that were surveyed, his popularity ranges between 20% to 30%.
This mixed collection of headlines appears regularly in the major media. Last week, President Xi Jinping was described as being "assured to win an unprecedented 3rd term in office", and at the same time unfounded rumors of a military coup deposing him made global headlines.
Over the last few months, we’ve seen increased tensions over the Taiwan strait, concerns about Speaker Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, and China’s peripheral role as a political ally to Russia during the current war with Ukraine. Also a concern is the growing number of corporate, government, and academic espionage cases leading back to China.
A couple of years back, the topic of “decoupling” from China was popular, and there’s currently a national initiative to bring at least some semiconductor manufacturing back to the USA. A more delicate issue are the cases of Chinese nationals in the USA with access to sensitive materials who have been caught transferring intellectual property back to Chinese organizations.
Today we'll be discussing the difference in perspective between China and western nations, and digging into ways that western corporations can help to secure their intellectual property against all threats - both foreign and domestic.

  • Nick Colosimo - Artificial Intelligence Beyond Silicon
There are limits to transistor size & core density - and modern computing is pushing silicon right to the edge. What comes next?
We’re joined by Professor Nick Colosimo to discuss trends in artificial intelligence and next-generation computing architectures. He estimates that replicating the 89 billion neurons of your brain in silicon would require hundreds 100's of kilowatts of power and take cubic meters of volume – compared to only 20 watts and 1.2 liters inside your head. What is it about the human brain that’s so much more efficient?
It's an important question not only for Artificial Intelligence, but for information processing in general. DCDC’s Global Strategic Trends estimates that mankind will generate over 178 million exabytes of digitally stored data by the year 2045. We can store that data, but can we process it effectively - or will we end up living in a world of "missed opportunities"?
Nick Colosimo is an accomplished strategist, engineer, technologist and futurist. He currently has a dual role is as the Head of Strategy & Integration as well as the Autonomy & Robotics Senior Technologist & Cluster Lead at BAE Systems Air. He is also a visiting Professor at Cranfield University, assigned to the Autonomous and Cyber-Physical Systems Centre.
Nick has just completed a Master’s of Science in Applied Artificial Intelligence at Cranfield University, and has over 70 published, granted, and classified patents across a wide array of disciplines in the aerospace, energy, and computing sectors.

  • Tim Maudlin - Superluminal Communication & Quantum Non-Locality
Dr. Tim Maudlin discusses quantum non-locality, Bell’s Theorem, the No-Communication Theorem, and offers three new approaches to superluminal quantum communication.
The No-Communication Theorem theorem shows you can’t signal, but that theorem is limited with respect to what the signaler is allowed to do and what the receiver uses to get the signal.
We discuss the use of arrival time distributions as the signaling medium, because there is no standard Hermitian operator associated with arrival times, so it is not clear what the “standard” theory even predicts.
We'll also explore work by Siddhant Das on superluminal communication using the pilot-wave theory for spin. Tim will also speculate on an approach to superluminal communication using the Aharonov-Bohm effect.
Dr. Tim Maudlin is a Professor of Philosophy at NYU, and has a B.A. in Physics and Philosophy from Yale and a Ph.D. in History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Pittsburg. His interests are primarily focused in the foundations of physics, metaphysics, and logic, and has written numerous books and journal publications on these topics.
Tim is President of the John Bell Institute for the Foundations of Physics, named in honor of Dr. John Bell, the originator of Bell's theorem. He is also a member of the Academie Internationale de Philosophie des Sciences and the Foundational Questions Institute (FQXi), and has been a Guggenheim Fellow, taught at Rutgers from 1986 to 2011, and has been a visiting professor at Harvard.
He joins us today to discuss quantum non-locality, Bell’s Theorem, the No-Communication Theorem, and to explore new approaches to superluminal quantum communication.

  • Remi Cornwall - Superluminal Communications & Secure Signaling
Remi Cornwall discusses a novel approach to superluminal communications & secure quantum signaling and provides insight into the EPR Paradox and "No-Communication Theorem".
Our discussion today is focused on his 2006 paper “Secure Quantum Communication and Superluminal Signalling on the Bell Channel”. In this paper, he addressed “EPR Paradox”, stating, “Einstein wanted particles to have classical, objective properties and Special Relativity to be obeyed.” The full paper can be found at https://arxiv.org/pdf/1106.2257.pdf
Remi has proposed a way around the EPR Paradox that allows superluminal signaling, citing Bohr, the principle of Complementarity, and the idea that unmeasured quantities don’t actually exist classically.
He also proposes an experiment for instantaneous, superluminal communication involving “the detection of a photon entangled state as one binary digit and either of the collapsed states as the complement digit”. In his device description, "several tens of photons are sent per bit to allow for path differences between the two arms of the interferometer and accurate interference but in principle one photon per bit is possible".
Remi Cornwall, an alumni of UMIST/Manchester and London University with Master’s degrees in electronic, electrical and information/software engineering and physics. He spent the early part of his career in industry at blue-chip companies but devoted his spare time to problems in engineering physics. His research company is currently working upon three projects – thermo-electric conversion with ferrofluids, secure communication by quantum entanglement and novel forms of electromagnetic propulsion.

  • James Woodward - Mach Effect Propulsion & The MEGA Drive
Dr. James Woodward discusses Mach Effect Propulsion and the MEGA Drive, based on a postulate that energy-storing ions experience transient mass fluctuations when accelerated.
In today's presentation, James will be joined by Michelle Broyles to provide updates on their team research and recent experimental test results for prototype drive systems.
Unlike conventional technologies, drives based on the Mach Effect do not need to release matter in order to generate thrust. The MEGA-Drive is part of an ongoing effort by Woodward's team to generate reactionless thrust based on transient mass fluctuations.
James is a professor emeritus of history and an adjunct professor of physics at California State University, Fullerton. He has an AB in Physics from Middlebury College, an MS in Physics from New York University, and a PhD in the History of Science from the University of Denver.

  • John Michael Greer - The Catabolic Collapse Of Civilization (Part 1)
Is the collapse of modern civilization already underway? John Michael Greer discusses "Catabolic Collapse", a stairstep model of decline that describes how societies on the way down cannibalize their own infrastructure to stay afloat.
John Michael Greer is an accomplished author who writes on ecology, politics, appropriate technology, oil depletion and the occult. He has published dozens of both books and articles, many of them on peak oil, economics, history, philosophy and related topics.
In a 2005 abstract, called "How Civilizations Fall: A Theory of Catabolic Collapse", he described an ecological model of collapse in which production fails to meet maintenance requirements for existing capital, which we'll be discussing today.

  • Kent Peacock - The No-Communication Theorem Is Wrong
The No-Communication Theorem says superluminal quantum communication is impossible - but what if it's wrong?
In this presentation Dr. Kent Peacock discusses the no-communication theorem, also called the no-signalling principle, and explores fundamental logical flaws in this negative proof that may facilitate the future development of superluminal quantum communication.
In physics, the no-communication theorem or no-signaling principle is a no-go theorem from quantum information theory which states that, during measurement of an entangled quantum state, it is not possible for one observer, by making a measurement of a subsystem of the total state, to communicate information to another observer.
The theorem is important because, in quantum mechanics, quantum entanglement is an effect by which certain widely separated events can be correlated in ways that, at first glance, suggest the possibility of communication faster-than-light. The no-communication theorem gives conditions under which such transfer of information between two observers is impossible.
Dr. Peacock is a professor of philosophy at the University of Lethbridge, and is a philosopher of science focused on physics and ecology. He also has strong interests in the metaphysics of time, logic, environmental ethics, the nature of ingenuity and creativity, and the complex of challenges flowing out of humanity's current ecological crisis.
