  • 108: Create New Habits

Continuing the conversation from last episode with interrupting our negative thoughts, let’s talk about how we can stop that habit and create new ones that serve us better!

Staying positive, while still living in reality where negative things are happening a lot for us lately, I’m focusing on being more intentional with my habits. That’s not always easy and certainly takes some effort, but it’s proving to be the very thing that’s keeping me going.

If you’re in a season of struggle, pain, loss, or indecision, I’m sending prayers your way for peace and endurance. It’s never too late to create new positive habits that can truly change your life!

    Highlights:

(03:12) Habits shape your choices (without you even noticing)

(05:41) The real reason old habits are so hard to break

(09:25) My 3 strategies for creating habits that actually last

(13:17) A simple way to make new routines feel automatic

(15:42) When you slip back into old patterns (and we ALL do)

(18:09) Why progress beats perfection every time

  • 107: Interrupt Negative Thoughts

Inspired by a recent Mel Robbins podcast episode, where she talked about breaking the habit of immediately letting our negative thoughts spiral. I’ve definitely been practicing this concept for the last several months!

Being aware of how our brain works, forming habits we don’t even mean to create, is the first step in breaking them by interrupting the negativity and being intentional in our next thoughts!

What thought patterns might you need to interrupt and reframe more positively?

    Highlights:

    (01:49) Six long months

(03:19) When negativity comes, and it does…

(04:44) Mel Robbins - “interrupt that negativity”

(08:14) Can you be overly optimistic?

(12:07) 3 things (of course!) that can help

From “Why not me?” to “I need therapy!” With a third trip to urgent care and a potential cancer scare recently, it was time to call in extra support.

    (04:00) A long road ahead

(12:57) Immediate relief from talk therapy

  • 105:Why Not You?

Uncertain about a new opportunity or feel like you’re meant for more, but not sure you are the one to pursue it? Been there!

Instead of questioning “why me” and getting stuck in the how, it’s time to ask yourself, “why not me?”

I’m sharing some inspo from a recent coaching call I did with a new author and some of my own hangups I had to push past when I started my business nine years ago. We’re going back to the 3 steps that help me confidently pivot through uncertainty, and I know you can do it too!

    Highlights:

    (01:28) Should I? Could I? Says who!?

    (05:12) She said, “I’m a nobody”

(09:48) Trucks, teens, chaos... and a message from God

(14:05) Research, focus, ask for help - rinse and repeat

(24:10) Running Plan A + B without losing your mind

(28:56) Why not you? Seriously. Why. Not. You?

  • 104: Calling It Off with Katherine Rose Woller

Katherine Rose Woller is a marketing strategist turned bestselling author. From art gallerina to ski industry professional, to marketing executive, and now author, Woller has forever focused on the unifying power of storytelling.

In her debut memoir, Calling It Off: Memoir of an Almost Bride, Woller – an “almost bride” herself – uses her hard-fought growth, honest reflection, and ultimately flawed human experience to highlight the realities of what it’s like to not just call off a wedding, but to choose yourself when you’ve reached a daunting crossroads.

By sharing her transformative journey through the fire of a failed engagement and back, she draws on the relatable yet profoundly stigmatized reality of walking away from what’s expected of you. Woller’s story, told with wit and grit, shows the importance of trusting your gut, stepping through fear, and living authentically.

I loved our conversation and I hope you do too.

    Highlights:

    (08:14) Footnotes

(13:04) Knowing it was time to walk away

(20:11) Being the best version of you

(28:45) Finding that trust in yourself

    (34:29) My ultimately aligned person

  • 103: Developing Resilience 1% at a Time

If ever you’re dealing with a difficult or challenging situation and need the motivation to get through it, this episode is for you!

With the recent Palisades fires and all that has followed in the aftermath for our family and community, I’m reflecting on how I’ve overcome stressful trials in the past, which is often only 1% of effort at a time.

A quick Google search of the word resilience suggests it’s “the capacity to withstand or to recover quickly from difficulties.” In those tough moments, 1% may be all we’re capable of committing to, and it turns out…that’s enough!

    Highlights:

    (01:24) Resilience and me.

(05:07) Physical stress = Mental stress

    (06:29) Podcast in a Pandemic

(15:33) Building up resilience 1% at a time

(16:38) Tenacity, grit, and a bit of bravery

    (24:29) Maintain that forward momentum

If you’re going through the metaphorical fire right now, just know there is hope for goodness ahead and an opportunity to come out stronger and with a new, reinvented version of yourself that’s meant for so many blessings!

  • 101: Navigate Life Like Google Maps

When life gets tough, how do you feel like you handle it? Do you go with the flow, pivot with confidence, and stay flexible? Or maybe it’s just the opposite? Resist change, stay stuck, or breakdown?

While spending way too much time recently commuting on the 405 freeway and learning the side streets in our new neighborhood (post Palisades fire relocations), I noticed something interesting about Google Maps. More specifically, my focus is on the calm, cool nature of Boss Lady Betty, who navigates our drive in my car. “She” has some qualities I’d like to possess, but I’m still a work in progress.

When it comes time to “reroute,” let’s keep that as simple as possible, shall we? Betty would be proud.

    Highlights:

    (01:09) Episode 100’s done… Now what?

(04:27) Volleyball tears, big kid vibes, emotional mom

(08:50) Same streets, new life - full circle hits

(12:37) Boss Lady Betty doesn’t panic, she pivots!

(16:56) Google Maps isn’t just tech, it’s life advice

    (18:50) The 3-step pivot

  • 099: Maximize Your Energy Bursts

After decision fatigue hit hard (more on that in the last episode) I knew I would have to capitalize on my small, but still noteworthy, quick bursts of energy.

Ever feel exhausted and a moment of creativity or inspiration surprises you, and then you let it pass? After hitting a major wall since our home and community were devastated by the Palisades fire, I didn’t think I could make one more meaningful decision. I kept letting momentary glimpses of an idea or a quick surge of motivation fizzle out, which only caused me to stay stuck physically and mentally in an unhealthy cycle.

I’m sharing how I slowly, but surely, am pulling myself out of the negative, unmotivated headspace and maximizing the bursts of energy that’ll keep me moving forward. I know my future self will thank me for it!

If you’re in a similar position of little to no motivation, trust that you can get out of it. Reach out so I can offer encouragement and ways to pivot.

    Highlights:

    (04:35) Bottling those Energy Bursts

(08:39) We don’t always get the rest we NEED

(15:45) Spinning out- Nonstop thoughts in our head

(26:05) Get Up. Do it. Now.

    (29:02) Kickstart that Domino effect
