Hello and welcome back.

Today I'm speaking with Natalie and her experience of receiving a Cystic Fibrosis diagnosis for her son Lachlan, which can be considered what we call in this community a 'grey diagnosis'. What is probably more accurate is to say CF is a spectrum diagnosis, something very common in a lot of people's experience of TFMR.

The added twist in Natalie's story is that her and her partner, Andrew, did not initially agree on how to proceed with this information. Natalie felt that a TFMR would be best for Lachlan, Andrew was, in Natalie's words, 'more optimistic' and felt they should give Lachlan a chance.

We are so grateful to Natalie for coming on and telling their story. We've never had someone talk about the impasse between themselves and their partner. How does a couple work this out - while staying together?

Hello, we're back with Season 11!

In this episode I'm talking with Jane Fisher from Antenatal Results & Choices (ARC) about the importance and challenge of sharing your TFMR story.

ARC has always used people's stories to help both describe what happens in a TFMR: emotional, physically and mentally. Telling your story is also a powerful way to share what has happened on your own terms, to really begin to own it and integrate it.

We discuss the different ways you can share, and what to think about when considering sharing, whether more publicly, or even just to those around you.

ARC has many stories, in various forms, on their website, including video. These are a source of comfort and information for those who have gone through a TFMR and for those supporting them.

Anita has been a dietician for over 20 years, having worked in the NHS and private practise. She and her husband have experienced infertility struggles and early miscarriages, and then in 2022, Anita had a TFMR.

We talk about what 'good' nutrition means, how to think about nutrition when trying to maximise your fertility and support your body in a having a health pregnancy, and lastly how pregnancy loss may impact our eating behaviour.

Hello and welcome to today's episode with Jessica in the US talking about her TFMR story.

Please note, we recorded this episode before the outcome of the US election.

Jessica had her TFMR for her first pregnancy in March this year and shares her experience of what it has been like for her within this first 6 months. Navigating baby showers, friendships, support groups, etc. She also talks us through the experience of learning her son had a neural tube deficiency and speaking with the medical team about what options were available to her son. We talk about Jessica's thinking around trying to conceive again, her hopes and fears.

This is a panel episode, with three different guest, all of whom have experienced TFMR due to a T21 diagnosis.

All three women share their stories of processing the impact of a T21 diagnosis, how they thought about what this meant for themselves, their babies and their whole family and how they feel about it now.

Becky is a midwife and she talks about how the process was for her, then and now, as a medical professional working with pregnancy and birth. Loren found out one of the twins she was carrying had T21, she went through a selective termination at 32 weeks. Reeya discovered she was pregnant in her third trimester, it was a delightful surprise that quickly turned into a traumatic nightmare.

We're speaking with Kaitlyn and Erika from the US, and Claire from Ireland, about advocacy for TFMR (and abortion).

Unless you have been on the moon (!) for the last 12 months, there's a US election about to be decided on the 5th November, and women's reproductive rights is a key issue.

Kaitlyn and Erika tell us about their experiences with advocacy within the US. How and why they are doing it and how they are holding up. We hear from Claire about the formation of TFMR Ireland, their key part in winning the right to a referendum on Ireland's restrictive abortion laws, and then going on and winning that referendum, changing Ireland's laws on abortion.

These are three brilliant women, who out of trauma and grief are using their pain as power.

In this episode I am speaking with Jane fisher, Director of Antenatal Results and Choices about TFMR and abortion within the political sphere.

Many do not realise how much ARC keeps up with the abortion debate within the UK and how they insure that politicians are informed and educated about TFMR. Unfortunately, we always need to be on our toes for those politicians seeking to lower the gestation age for abortion (24 weeks in the UK) and/or trying to ban women from being able to have a TFMR for certain conditions, like T21.

We discuss what happened just before the UK election this summer and how ARC quietly works in the background on these issues.
