Tim's Take On...

A base under siege story from writer Toby Whithouse with the added twist of ghosts and an actor from the later episodes of Whithouse’s BBC Three hit drama Being Human combined to put us on the edge of our seats, my first thoughts review on this thrilling episode with a few additional missives from the Twitterverse.

An episode so exciting that I forgot to mention that the Doctor gets to drive Davros’s chair, a return to form this week after a so-so start to the series.

In a highly unusual move the “great” british press actully got a plot leak correct for a change and this episode began with the Doctor meeting Davros as a child, it’s enough to drive a timelord into hiding and Stephen Moffat’s epic opening episode certainly gives his friends a task to find him, Missy is back too thankfully a tad less insane and a smidge more scheming.

Just over a week till Doctor Who returns as I type this but just enough time for a taster of this year’s Whooverville convention. As ever Stephen Hatcher and his team put together a fine event, this time with even more dealers than before so I can home with quite a few target books for the shelf. But as ever there was room for podcasters to talk to the guests I was joined by Jean of The Staggering Stories podcast to talk to Richard Marson(TV Producer and writer of The Life & Scandalous Times of JNT and Drama & Delight: The Life of Verity Lambert), Nicholas Pegg(Dalek Actor), and David Benson(Actor in Dr Who: Robot of Sherwood and Big Finish’s Iris Wildthyme series) with David Benson having recently played London Mayor Boris Johnson the conversion drifted from the BBC to Politics which certainly all three guests had a take on.

Also this week almost while we weren’t looking another trailer was released to promote Dr Who Series 9.

The sun was up the sky was blue-ish so what better time of year to have another tour of the city centre locations from the sadly unfinished story Doctor Who: Shada, this time I expanded the tour to include a couple of extra sights Garret hostel Lane Bridge where Skagra confronts the Doctor in episode 2 and a non Shada sight Cambridge’s famous mathematical bridge.

You can see a few photos I took during the tour here https://www.flickr.com/photos/tdrury/albums/72157655590829894

and there’s a video I shot during the tour here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbRouTWOtOk

On this week’s show I recently returned to Cardiff for the first time in two years, so took the opportunity to track down another Dr Who filming location for Amy and Rory’s house seen in The Power of Three and Pond Life. I also visited the new look Dr Who Experience so you’ll hear my thoughts on that too.

You can see my photos of Cardiff here https://www.flickr.com/photos/tdrury/sets/72157657340182299

I also shot two videos, visiting The Ianto Shrine & Rory and Amy’s house is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-fSKTfRCn8

This week I finally met fellow TARDIS builder Yozie whose work has been shown off on the BBC’s Click Online as well as her own You Tube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/YOZcreative

Also my classic series rewatch reached Doctor Who: The Evil of The Daleks, a rare argument between the Doctor and Jamie at one point and also Victoria Waterfield’s first story. It was planned to be the Dalek’s last final appearance.

This week my classic series rewatch reached Doctor Who: The Faceless Ones thankfully only a partly missing story but also this week a surprise bonus because as I was finishing off this week’s episode the BBC released a second trailer for Series 9.

My classic series rewatch reaches Doctor Who: The Macra Terror, another story that had me relying on CD and recon so my review is rather vague.
