My friend from high school, Cynthia, talks with me about her physical and mental health journey and how she overcame eating disorders while managing her ongoing health in very real and positive ways. This is an absolutely inspiring story and I'm so thankful that Cynthia came to share it with us! This is one of the most emotional conversations I've had on the podcast yet and I couldn't be more proud of my friend for having the courage to not only accomplish what she's done to get healthy but to share her struggles and triumphs as well!

This week we take a break from some of the heavier topics and I talk with my good buddy Chris about the books (yes, they're canon) that tell stories of what occurred between the Star Wars trilogies. No spoilers but plenty of previews!

My good friend Becca has a passion for calling out people who don't respect others and I wanted to spend some time talking with her about some of the problems that are pervasive in our culture. Men, we get called out on our sh*t, and legitimately so. We also discuss the mental health consequences of poor, disrespectful behavior and how our actions and words influence those around us more than we may expect. I had a blast chatting with Becca and I think this is an important conversation regarding the ways that men and women can hold a mirror up to themselves and take an honest look at the way we interact with each other.

I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday! I'll be back to posting episodes every Thursday now, but I wanted to spend my Thanksgiving reflecting on my year and encouraging everyone to finish strong.

When my buddy and previous guest on the podcast Chauncey told me that he wanted to talk with me about The Social Dilemma I said "Tell me when!" Chauncey tells me about what most people missed in the documentary and even though we disagree on several things throughout the conversation we inadvertently provide a great example of conflict resolution through mutual understanding, an accomplishment that can rarely be achieved through the platforms we lean so heavily on. If social media is the Matrix, this episode is your red pill.

Today I am excited to share a conversation I had with my lifelong best friend James Drew Stanley. We grew up together in a swampy little dirt road town north of Orlando and we've remained tight throughout the years. Drew has worked for Disney and other companies as a professional dancer/entertainer for most of his life and spent much of the last two years working for Disney Tokyo. His second contract ended early as the COVID-19 pandemic began spreading across the world. He gives us an inside look at Disney entertainment, what Japanese culture is like, what he felt as an American visiting Hiroshima and what it's like being a professional performer in a time when public performances have nearly ground to a halt, just to name a few topics we cover. I love my friend and I love this conversation, I hope you will too!
This is the first in-person conversation I've had for the show since the pandemic began so there's some growing pains associated with me re-learning the ropes of the technical side (like making sure my guest's mic is actually turned on before we get halfway through the conversation) and trying to record video at the same time (video will be released later this afternoon, I have to spend more time editing it together after work today) but overall the sound quality is decent for the first half and great for the second half, and it doesn't diminish the quality of the conversation at all. Thank you everyone for being patient with me as I teach myself this. Not everyone can afford a Jamie. =P

My guest today is my good friend Ryan Hartman. Ryan lives in Australia and we had the opportunity to discuss American politics, how it compares to Australian politics and how the United States is viewed by many citizens of one of our closest allies. Ryan also is the creator of the up and coming tindelsrazor.com where my blog will be hosted. He has graciously been helping me with it for some time and I couldn't be more excited to share this fantastic conversation we had with you!

With the election right around the corner and political discourse spiraling into sometimes violent hostility I talk with my friend Miranda who found a more appealing political ideology within the Libertarian platform. We discuss her discovery of a party that wants people to be able to live their lives as they see fit and talk about the Libertarian perspective on many current issues.

In 2018 approximately 50,000 people committed suicide, over 80% of those people were men. Men's mental health has been neglected for centuries, and the statistics today reflect a problem that lies far deeper in society than many are willing to delve. I talk in depth about the problems facing men in society today and discuss ways we can find connection when the world expects us to be the strong, silent type.

Lauren, who has an incredible podcast titled "Let's Fucking Talk", and I deep dive into our own mental coping mechanisms, how anxiety manifests in different people, how we cope with our own anxiety, and Lauren even helps me realize something about my past that I wasn't acutely aware of before. All around an absolutely enlightening experience! Shedding light on some of our darkest moments helps us not only see that we aren't alone in feeling this way, but that we may also be able to learn new ways to cope with the oppressive presence that depression can be some days (for me mostly nights)
