Irish people are in danger of underestimating their own ability to speak their native language, according to research carried about by a Mary Immaculate College researcher.

The same study suggests that lack of confidence in the cúpla focal could be linked to an absence of quality feedback in school, and actually the research found that 60% of respondents would generally downplay their own abilities and would be able to speak more Irish than they thought they could.

A multi-agency investigation has led to the closure of an online business in Tipperary selling so-called diet pills.

The chemicals being used in these pills are also used as fertilisers, wood preservatives and even as a pesticides.

Several online sources sell pills containing DNP, which people take to lose weight.

Special education schools are set to reopen at 50 per cent capacity Thursday week on February 11th, followed by special-needs classes in mainstream schools on February 22nd, following agreement with school staff unions.

However, the announcement has drawn a mixed response from advocacy groups because it does not provide in-school teaching for thousands of children with additional needs in mainstream primary classes.

During Covid we have seen an explosion in home baking with more people at home and we even saw banana bread trending on social media in the early days of lockdown.

Flour was also like hens teeth for a part of lockdown!
