  • Tipp Today Highlights - Carrick Professor Warns Against Health Supplement VAT Hike
We heard about concerns around the increase in the VAT rate on health supplements last week.
For four decades, supplements such as vitamins, minerals, probiotics and fish oils have been exempt from VAT.
Well, while we were speaking about this to a health shop retailer last week, my next guest contacted us to say he has been involved in consulting the government on this.
He says he too disagrees with the hikes and is warning that the health impacts of this will be serious.

In particular, the current delivery of LGBTQI+ education was described as lacking.
Students speaking to RTE have said that some of them used cartoons such as The Simpsons to fill their knowledge gap around sex and relationships.
It prompted us to wonder what a lack of quality sex education - and the need for our youth to turn to outside sources to inform them - is affecting them - and Child Psychologist Majella Kennedy spoke to Fran on Monday:

  • Tipp Today Highlights - Tipp FM Listener Loses Thousands In Gambling Blitz
'Cormac' first contacted Tipp FM a number of weeks ago.
He was in the middle of a financial crisis, having lost several thousand euro of a family members money after a three and a half hour stint in a betting office.
Cormac – which is a name we've given him to hide his identity – didn't know who to turn to or what to do next as he tried to hide what he had done from his family.
Fran spoke to him about what happened, how he tried to deal with it and how easy it can be to make such a simple mistake:
