TK in the AM:

We are joined today by Shawn Randall, Cristina Pitter, and Jehan O. Young from the Off-Broadway hit, “Behind the Sheets.” We get down for a talk on theatre, diversity, and the voices of the past.
#AffirmationFriday

We start out the show today with Mexican souvenirs. Gemz is back from the border with Pancho Villa incense and a protection bracelet straight from a Yerberia in Reynosa, Mexico. Jehan O. Young, Shawn Randall, and Cristina Pitter also join us as we dive into the world and the play.

In #NewsYouCanUse:
California police shoot black man who was sleeping in his car outside of Taco Bell.
Andrew Yang runs on the platform of advocating for Basic Living Income.
Prime Time Sports forced to close after removing their Nike products.
Amazon pulls out its HQ plans out of New York City.
All That and Boomerang are planning a comeback to the screen.

Following #ChatroomCheckIn, we get into Behind the Sheets with the three cast members in the studio. We also dive deep into the presence of people of color in creative spaces. And finally, we go into the characters and who is behind them.

Check out “Behind the Sheets,” running until March 10 at the Ensemble Studio Theatre (545 W 52nd st, New York, NY 10019)

It’s the #MondayMotivation after The Grammy’s we didn’t watch but it didn’t stop us from doing a lively recap of this year’s not so interesting award show. On Netflix… A film about abduction. How does one get abducted in plain sight twice... by the same individual? It’s hell up in Harlem as Dapper Dan says not on my watch to Gucci’s recent blackface sweater design, arranging a meeting in the community with Italian head boss. (We suggest the Popeye’s on the corner of 125th and St Nicholas Avenue.) Baltimore Pastor will not be feeding his congregation chicken and biscuits this year. Instead has developed and on site garden network. Gotta be healthy for when the rapture comes.

Affirming warmer weather on this #AffirmationFriday. Perhaps a trip to a tropical destination. But in the meantime here’s a brief description on this episode. TK and Conscious enjoy but discuss minimal details about the play Behind The Sheet they went to see in order to present a proper convo when members of the cast join them on the morning show some time this month. The duo chats a bit about a collaboration that’s manifested by way of guest spots on Accession podcast episode Nightlife. Looks like B. Smith’s husband Dan and girlfriend have a podcast on the way. Could explain all the media leading up to now. Cory Booker has announces he’s running for president. Question is as the democratic list of nominees increases are we just setting ourselves up for another four years of Trump still. Oprah is kinda like 50 Cent. Headlines trigger a Buzzfeed doesn’t like POC sentiment that’s rather off based. TK spills her take on it.

We enter this #AirOutWednesday on a high and celebratory note as we pay homage to the great James Ingram… It’s all downhill from there. Nah, just kidding. We talk about the impact of MAGA (now deemed movement) and a hate crime against Jussie Smollett claimed by alleged members. Also the power of symbology mixed with the energy of social media. We have a gang of air out for these bitches, namely DL Hughley for his asinine response to Terry Crews on Twitter. Crews though can handle himself as he indulges Hughley in the online back and forth and ultimately invites him to possibly have his face smacked. Our last convo ventures into the private life of B.Smith and husband Dan made public by Dan himself. We talk about the difficulty of being a caretaker, alternative looks at ‘family’ and support but where should lines be drawn asa new person enters the picture who happens to be the girlfriend of a still married man. Also the problem with using the brand of a person no longer capable of speaking for themself as somewhat therapy, further push a personal agenda and the well deserved backlash of this action.

The government shutdown has been paused for at least three weeks. Let’s see where this one goes. Shout out to Ernest White II. Congrats on PBS greenlighting his international travel show Fly Brother. A unique look at travel through the eyes of a black gay man. Also Kamal or nah? Seems her background as a prosecutor may be quite a hurdle in her race for presidential nomination in 2020. Finally Black Panther takes home SAG award and the message continues to be one of showing up for the village.

But enough about us. What is your motivation?

Another #AffirmationFriday endeavor. This time around Gemz is out of town so he missed out on the semen guy story. Anyways in this episode we explore whether or not there is truth to the idea of middle child syndrome while concluding that the man responsible for the Frye festival disaster probably in fact was not a middle child.
