As an Illness Recovery Coach, Kaley guides people through transformative journeys using mind-body healing techniques to experience long-lasting relief from symptoms of chronic illness. Her core mission is to inspire others to live well and nurture their souls which she does through her various roles as a marriage & family therapist, best-selling author, speaker, podcast host, and coach.
Show Notes:
5:45: How Kailey got involved with illness recovery coaching
“And without skipping a beat, without concern for what he was saying to a 12-year-old or what that might feel like for me, he just said 'no' (...) there was a voice, deep inside of me, that knew that that was wrong.”
10:45: Communication of Kailey’s diagnosis within her family
11:30: Living with her condition as a teenager
“At a very young age, I just said, I want to be having as much fun as I can, I want to be enjoying my friends as much as I can, I want to get the most out of school, you know, not in terms of even academia just being in an environment, you know, and socializing."
18:00: Relapses
“Pain is, by far, in my opinion, the worst symptom of MS or of autoimmune diseases because no one sees it. And it's excruciating. It's debilitating. You can't function. You can't think straight. (...) sometimes you start to feel crazy like there were days where I was convinced my legs were on fire.”
19:40: Overcoming her MS
“At a certain point if the body has gotten too used to dis-ease, then the body needs to be reconditioned, which is a lot of what I do with my clients, is just learning how to change your lifestyle, listen to the body, really learning how to listen. And then reconditioning the body to wellness."
31:45: Lessons for moms about their children’s health
“Whatever your kid is dealing with, it's multiplied by what you're dealing with. And so you heard just for me, how whatever I was dealing with, my body created disease. That gets amplified when a parent is also not dealing with their feelings, not processing something”

Sometimes, with kids around, amongst the day to day shuffle, keeping the house organized, and keeping arts & crafts spaces in order, feels impossible. Today’s guest, Amy Wilson, offers some spectacular tips on everything from cleaning up clutter, to purging old items, and room design, that will allow you to truly live by the adage “Home is Where the Heart is.”
About our guest:
I am an interior designer based in Sydney Australia. My philosophy is that a home is the ultimate reflection of who you are and what you love and every home has a unique identity which should be celebrated and enjoyed. I am known for classic, sophisticated and inviting spaces that are not only beautiful, but functional as well. Our home and our space is part of who we are and what better way to celebrate that than to decorate it with passion, enthusiasm and a keen eye for detail.
5:30 Keeping Arts & Crafts spaces clean and tidy
“Some kids are not at the stage of reading yet so with labeling, what I like to do is actually print a photo (...) so that your kids who are younger who can't read yet, they can visually see where to put things."
8:40: How often do you purge?
“Try once a month, just do a little checkup, you know, have a little quick browse; make sure things are working”
10:05: Keeping things tidy with the hustle and bustle of the kids
“There’s so many incredible designs when it comes to furniture; you know you can get these amazing coffee tables that become a desk, and they have drawers, and they lift up and have all these compartments that you can shove all these tiny little bits and pieces into.”
19:45: Storage of artwork
“You know when they're 18 years old, you can even keep some of the books and wrap them up and give it to them as a gift, you know, and show them the little artist that they grew up to be.”
23:25: What if I am not naturally organized?!
“Just taking that one little extra minute during the day that you go and you just fold the sheets over and puff up the pillows, and you've got a beautiful bed waiting for you when you get home.”
28:15: Flooring Ideas
“You should look into rugs that are made from something called polypropylene.”
32:25: The Lost box
"Instead of having all these strewn out, you know, little pieces scattered everywhere. I've got it all in one place and I go: 'Ah, I think it might be in the lost box. ' "
35:40: Design Trends
“Everyone's homes are unique and that's what makes us special”

SHOW NOTES:
3:25: Introducing Mitten Lowe, BS, MNM, CEH
“The dentist that we decided to stay with was like, ‘okay, what are you doing’ and I said ‘like just give me a little bit more time.’ And within six months, his teeth were completely healed and the enamel was restored”
8:30: Tooth problems
“The big thing to know about tooth decay for kids or adults is that your body's telling you that there is a deficiency, (...) because the teeth need fat-soluble-vitamins and minerals, and so do the bones - by the way, to stay strong and to build up the enamel”
15:45: So… No More Candy??
“Sometimes adults really have to be careful because they're so far into their life. Kids, what we want to do is we want to bring them back into balance so they can have a fun, flexible life”
17:45: Healing one’s teeth at any age (or with cavities)
“In the last five years, we've completely healed my dad's teeth, and he's 70.”
“ If you're going to go get cavities restored or repaired at the dentist, just know that you still want to do the healing teeth work, because the environment that created that was still there.”
20:15: Why care about tooth care?
“Because as your teeth heal so does the rest of your body, which is really incredible. And the teeth are also showing us what's the strength and the density of the bones; we want our kids to have really strong, dense bones”

Moms, this episode contains deep and rich insight about the tiring yet rewarding role that you play as a parent. Our guest, Liba Lurie, offers tips on how to authentically support your child unconditionally. With all of this advice, you will learn so much about yourself and your true inner mom.
Through her professional work and personal experience, Liba developed a framework to help parents regain their calm and respond to their child consciously. In the episode she breaks down the 5 steps of her framework. The framework is truly GOLDEN!!
**In case you have kids in the background while you're listening to this episode, just be aware that there is a bit of occasional strong language used during this raw and authentic conversation between Jodi and Liba.**
More about our guest:
Liba Lurie is a Psychologist, a mom of four, and she helps parents develop confidence in their parenting by addressing their root challenges and teaching them the skills to build solid relationships (with their kids and themselves). While other parenting experts focus on changing children’s behavior, Liba addresses the source — not the symptoms — of your challenges in order to help parents feel calmer, in control and confident in their day-to-day interactions and relationships with their kids.
Show Notes:
3:30: Introducing this week's guest: Liba Lurie
“I knew what I wanted. I knew what kind of mom I wanted to be, and the relationships that I want to have (...) Then I had kids, and it was like the ground crumbled from beneath me. And it wasn’t just the shock, the physical shock of motherhood and the practical shock, but the emotional shock.”
7:40: Focusing on a Mother’s relationship with their child instead of fixing their behavior
“Really what it’s about is a framework, not just to handle the chaos, but really to work through during the calm, to develop a stronger sense of awareness, regulation, connection with your child, and clarity."
13:10: Liba working through Jodi’s parenting struggle in real time
Get an inside scoop of Liba's work and philosophy as she helps Jodi solve one of her parenting struggles.
17:10: The Five Steps of Liba’s Framework
In this section, Liba lists and explain the 5 steps of her framework regarding regaining your calm and responding to your child consciously.
The steps are as follows:
29:25: The starting place of building relationship and incorporating the framework into our lives
“The one thing that I would recommend is that your listener asks themselves: ‘What do I want?’ and sit with that. Sit with it. Let it brew. Let it ferment like a fine wine”
