As autumn approached, Fotografiska Tallinn turned its gaze to the stars with the major exhibition SPACE – A Visual Journey. In this episode, you will meet one of the featured artists, Mikael Owunna

Mikael Owunna is a Nigerian American multimedia artist, filmmaker, engineer, and the President of the City of Pittsburgh's Public Art and Civic Design Commission. Exploring the intersections of technology, art, and African cosmologies, his work seeks to elucidate an emancipatory vision of possibility that revives traditional African knowledge systems and pushes people beyond all boundaries, restrictions, and frontiers. 

SPACE – A Visual Journey, group exhibition, September 13 – January 18

The exhibition SPACE – A Visual Journey explores the celestial frontier where artistic expression and scientific inquiry meet, and captures the grandeur of the cosmos through the eyes of astronomers and the interpretive visions of artists alike. Through works by 14 different artists, we encounter questions about Earth, space, and our identities – who we are in the face of eternity, and who has the right to dream about the future?
