  • 154. What To Do When People Don't Support You (And Why They Might Not)

Losing weight is so much harder when no one supports you.

Feeling alone and ostracized in your efforts is a shortcut to giving up on your goals with a quickness.

But sometimes what seems like a lack of support is actually something else entirely.

In this episode, I'm diving into all the reasons why people who love you might seem to not support your goals -- and how to stay committed to them, regardless.

    • 153. Using RAIN to Develop Self-Compassion & Develop Self-Trust with Karel Chan

I know you hear a lot about how important it is to treat yourself with compassion, to learn to trust yourself, and to want to change from a place of love rather than self-hatred but easier said than done, right?

Today I'm joined by therapist-turned-mindfulness-and-self-love-coach, Karel Chan, who's sharing with us a specific tool called the RAIN practice that will help you actually DO those things.

When done consistently, this practice can help you reduce or even completely eliminate cravings for food, booze, cigarettes, or whatever is your default coping mechanism.

Tune in to learn what RAIN is and how you can start using it today.

Karel Chan is a licensed therapist and mindfulness and self love coach. Anchored Awakening is her coaching practice, guiding passionate, high-achieving women to heal from heartbreak, shame, and self loathing through inner child work and authentic self love. She has healed multiple mental and emotional wounds using mindfulness, self love, and self compassion, and it is her mission to help others do the same. She lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with the most amazing pup and spends her time deepening her spiritual practice, knitting and designing knitting patterns, and enjoying connected friendships.

Getting older does NOT mean resigning yourself to living out the rest of your days on a rocker on the front porch and today's guest, Jimeane, is all the evidence you'll need of that.

Married to her marathon running husband for 45 years, she was unwilling to accept that getting older would mean being overweight and sedentary.

She joined Gone For Good 3 months ago wanting to lose weight, keep up with her 8(!) grandkids and lower her cholesterol.

Now? She's reduced her cholesterol by 65 POINTS, lost more than 14 pounds, more than 20 inches, and has the energy to watch the majority of her grandkids all summer!

          • 150. Why It's So Hard to Lose Weight in the US

Moving back to the US after 3 years in Germany opened my eyes to just how difficult it is to lose weight (or keep it off) in the US.

While there are a lot of improvements we could make on a societal or cultural level, I want you to see the autonomy you have over your choices so you don't feel like a victim of circumstance.

With the heightened awareness you'll have after today's episode, it'll be easier for you to overcome these challenges and be in the minority of Americans who successfully lose weight and keep it off.

If you haven't experienced the "grind," you will.

You probably have, you just may not have heard of it by this name.

The "grind" is when you've been committed to your weight loss goals for 4-6 weeks, have made some progress, but start to feel like you're still working really hard and have very little to show for it.

It's when you're tempted to throw in the towel since what you're doing obviously isn't working, anyway.

It's when you are most prone to giving up but you CAN'T if you want to make more progress than the first few pounds.

Tune in to find out what signs to look for and, most importantly, how to get through the "grind" so you come out the other side stronger, more resilient, and more confident that you can and will reach your goals.
