Friday marks the Electoral Commission of South Africa’s (IEC) deadline for all political parties and independent candidates who intend to contend in 2024's general elections to submit their candidate lists.
South Africans are set to vote on 29 May in the hotly contested upcoming polls.
Newly registered political parties spent the last several weeks scrambling for over 47,800 signatures of support in order to contest in the elections, while those who failed will have the option of only contesting in provinces.
Parties that are unrepresented in Parliament will need more than 13,800 signatures in order to be eligible for election to Parliament.
Parties are expected to submit their nominations list by 17:00 on Friday.
The IEC said the provisional lists would be published for inspection on 26 and 27 March.
