Welcome to season 10 of Today With Jesus! Dan and Robert are kicking off this season in a special way: by recording this episode in front of a live audience at Polishing the Pulpit in Branson, MO!
Our study of Hebrews, continued from season 9, focuses on the descriptors of Jesus within this wonderful book. This episode focuses on Jesus as “someone who is always there.” While this title is not specifically given in the text, it is certainly implied as we study Hebrews chapter seven.
Hebrews 7 is admittedly a complex chapter as it weaves in many concepts which will form the foundation for future chapters. Focusing on Jesus’ presence in his role as our High Priest, let’s notice the CONFIDENCE of his presence (Heb. 7:16-21; Psa. 110:4), the CONTINUANCE of his priesthood (Hebrews 7:23-24), and the CONSEQUENCE of his permanence (Hebrews 7:25-28).
Who was Melchizedek and what does he have to do with Jesus serving as our high priest? Dan and Robert dive into Hebrews 7:1-10 on the season 9 finale of Today With Jesus.
Hosts: Dan Winkler and Robert Hatfield | Released Tuesday, July 9, 2024 This week’s episode prompts us to take a close look at Hebrews 6:20 and the significance of Jesus as our forerunner. Watch the Video [Coming Soon!] We want to hear from you! Subscription Links
Persistent sin will lead to a dangerous point at which one’s conscience is so hardened by sin that he or she joins in heart with those who crucified Jesus, essentially proclaiming that Jesus was worthy of the cruel death he suffered! This is serious! How do we keep from reaching that point? Dan and Robert discuss this as they dive into Hebrews six.
Hebrews 5:9 states that Christians have something because of who Jesus is. Dive into this concept with Dan and Robert on this week’s episode of Today With Jesus.
Hebrews 4:14-16 further highlights the practical implications of Jesus’ heavenly ministry as our high priest. These verses especially teach that he is my CAREGIVER.
How does the concept of stewardship relate to Jesus? Hebrews 3:5-6 gives us a wonderful perspective on Jesus’ work over his Father’s household.
In describing Jesus as “the apostle and high priest of our confession” (Hebrews 3:1), the Holy Spirit emphasizes that Jesus was sent to earth to communicate God’s will to humans and that he is now in heaven to communicate on our behalf to God. What a wonderful thought!
The Book of Hebrews is the only book in the New Testament that refers to Jesus as our high priest. Dan and Robert explore the Old Testament background of the high priests, then notice the extremely practical significance of this wonderful descriptor of Jesus!
What does the Holy Spirit mean when he, through the writer of Hebrews, refers to Jesus as the “captain” (NKJV) or “founder” (ESV) or “pioneer” (NIV, CSB) perfect through suffering (Hebrews 2:10)? And in what sense is it appropriate to refer to Jesus are our brother (Hebrews 2:12)? Find out as Dan and Robert continue studying descriptors of Jesus in Hebrews on this episode of Today With Jesus.
