avoir de quoi or ne pas avoir de quoi – 2 very French expressions. They mean ‘to have enough’, or ‘to not have enough’ and they are most often followed by a verb in its infinitive form.
I selected 5 expressions with AVOIR DE QUOI that are common in French:
* avoir de quoi faire – to have enough work on your plate
* avoir de quoi s’étonner – to be very surprised (to have enough here to be surprised)
* avoir de quoi s’occuper – to have plenty, to have a lot to do
* avoir de quoi vivre – to be enough to live on, to be confortable with a certain amount of money
* avoir de quoi voir venir – to have enough money to not worry about the future
It may also be used on its own. In this case, it’s an idiomatic expression and here is how it goes:
