Tom Maxwell just led the Delsea Regional High School wrestling team in South Jersey to the 2025 NJSIAA Group 3 Wrestling Championship. It was the fourth straight state title for the Crusaders, but it was the first for Maxwell as head coach, as he took over the program after spending 29 seasons as an assistant. He also was a longtime assistant for the football and baseball programs at Delsea, logging an amazing 73 seasons as an assistant coach for the three programs combined prior to this first season as a head coach.
In Episode #263 of "1-on-1 with Matt Leon," Matt welcomes Maxwell in studio to talk about his career. They discuss what it was like to lead Delsea to the state title in his first year as head coach, why being a head coach was never really a goal for him, they discuss what makes Delsea wrestling special and much more.
