Tom the Preacher

What do you do when obedience to God seems to go against everything you understood to be God's plan for your life?
I'm speaking of one of the most challenging passages in Scripture when God tested Abraham by telling him to sacrifice his son, Isaac. This story confuses many people, but God had his reasons.

It's been said that everything rises or falls on leadership. Knowing this, the evil one directs special attacks upon leaders of the Christian church. He has any strategies, but his most effective might be one you're not thinking of.

We wish our prayers would be answered immediately and our faith become reality right away. But it doesn't work this way. There's often a period of waiting, and of testing, before promises are fulfilled. Abraham and Sarah are a great example of what to do, and what not to do, during this time of testing.

Can you walk with God one step at a time?
Do you refuse to move if you don't understand the entire plan?
Abraham, a man of faith, serves as a good model of how we need to take that first step in our faith journey.

Enoch: What a fascinating character.
He is one of only two people in the Bible who went to heaven without having ever died. He must have been quite special. Do you know why?

Genesis 4 gives the account of two brothers, Cain and Able, worshipping God. This was the first worship recorded in the Bible and there is much to learn from the story because  God accepted the sacrifice of Able, but not that of his older brother, Cain. Do you know why? Could the lessons of this story relate to your worship of God?

Paul contrasted walking by faith with walking by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). Faith is simply being convinced something is real and true even though you can't see it. And yet, the great people of faith spoken of in Hebrews 11 "saw" something. They had eyes to "see" that which is unseen.
