We discuss Jack Draper's withdrawal from the US Open due to arm pain, Coco Gauff's close R2 match against Ajla Tomljanovic, and how hot Tommy Paul looked as he breezed through his R2 match against Elmer Moller. We also issue a formal apology to Carlos Alcaraz re: our reaction to his hair. We realize now it was all an accident and that it's just hair and it will grow back. We gleefully skip our topic of the week yet AGAIN due to time constraints and bounce right into The Summer I Turned Pretty S3E8 aka The Episode They Finally Called Off the Wedding. While wrapping up discuss which one of us will take one for the team and watch KPop Demon Hunters, agree that we will both watch new ESPN documentary, The Kingdom, following the Chief's last season, and reiterate our excitement for the new Netflix film, Thursday Murder Club, based on the bestselling books.

We spend 2 seconds on the news that William and Kate are moving house in Windsor (we find this unproblematic). In tennis we cover the men's and women's finals in Cincinnati, the big reveal of Vuori's new kit for Jack Draper, and then we go in-depth about our time in Flushing Meadows this week attending the opening arounds of the US Open Mixed Doubles Championship. This event has been tennis's own version of Love Island and we go into the gossip, the scores, and our thoughts on each of the day 1 matches. We touch quickly down in the world of F1 to discuss a few silly seasons spottings (Charles Leclerc in a kilt) and rumors (Christian Horner as Cadillac team principal for 2026). We (Alexa) panic about Jack Draper losing another US Open Mixed Doubles partner in Paula Badosa and prognosticate what could become of him in regards to that event. In F1 we cover Lewis Hamilton's very lame 8/8 announcement (he is launching a mescal with his non-alcoholic tequila brand) and lament the latest photos of Pierre Gasly's hair situation. In which we discuss our possible rebrand as a transportation podcast, the news that solo travelers are being charged up to 70% more for their fares on US-based airlines, and Uber beta testing women-only rides. This leads Sumner to share the experience of her worst Lyft ride ever. We also brainstorm how Alexa will avoid getting Legionnaire's disease now that there is an outbreak in New York. In tennis, we check in on the semifinals in both Toronto and Montreal while also noting that Djokovic has decided to withdraw from Cincinnati. In F1, we have begun silly season (AKA the official summer break when the rumors flow) and Lewis Hamilton made an announcement that he would be making an announcement on 8/8. We speculate about what the announcement may be. For the US vs UK topic of the week, we discuss the Julian Fellowes universe comparing Downton Abbey to Gilded Age, weaving in our reaction to Gilded Age S3E7 throughout.

In tennis, we share our surprise that Coco Gauff has had a low-key boyfriend for 2 years, gush over Canadian Victoria Mboko's big win and great Wilson kit in Montreal, discuss the upcoming dating show taking place at the US Open, and check-in on how the Laver cup teams are shaping up. Over in F1, we mourn Charles Leclerc's fate at the Hungarian GP, discuss Alexa's unlikely turnaround on Lando Norris's new girlfriend, and ponder Oscar Piastri's improbable modeling career. We end with Sumners review of the new Molly Gordon and Logan Lerman film, Oh, Hi! (spoiler: it was great).
