The real sports news this episode comes from England’s Lionesses who dispatched with Spain to win the Women’s Euro Finals this weekend. In content, Alexa cannot in good conscience recommend The Hunting Wives on Netflix but we turn it around by covering another banger from the Gilded Age (S3E6). 

In which we apologize for being tardy with this episode but don't regret it due to all the "news" we have to discuss. In which we discuss the excellent news (for Sumner) that Mercury is in retrograde, airport security at home and abroad (we are looking at you Heathrow terminal 5), Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson's feature film link up, and the continued fallout from the Coldplay kiss cam drama (including a bunch of fake news). In tennis we quickly on a smattering of news including significant withdrawals from Toronto, Bublik's win in Gstaad, and updates around the US Open Mixed Double's Tournament. F1 had another off we but we continue to pray at the altar of Ferrari. Q season 1 as well as some sh*ttalking Charles Fane from the Guilded Age for good measure.

In which we apologize for our unplanned multi-week summer break and discuss the incredible fashion from the Macrons state visit to the UK. We, of course, go over all things Wimbledon (scores, spectators, AND gossip). The world of F1 is finally giving us PLENTY to talk about again so we touch on: Christian Horner's axing from Red Bull (effective immediately), what that could mean for Max Verstappen, and a theory about Toto Wolff. On top of that, we have on-site reporting from Alexa who attended Silverstone in the Ferrari paddock last weekend. We also give our reviews of F1 The Movie both as fans of F1 and as fans of movies. We wrap by continuing to sing the praises of the Gilded Age from HBO (escapism at its best) and Sumner plugs Dept. Q on Netflix starring Matthew Goode.

We discuss the second half of Netflix's America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and use our enthusiasm for the subject to fuel our US vs UK topic of the week. We share theories as to why the US has cheerleaders and the UK doesn't but, in the inverse, the UK has a robust hooligan culture that the UK lacks. Tennis takes us to the UK and Germany where we check in on the lead up tournaments before Wimbledon. We loudly share our support for the currently unfolding Emma Raducanu/Carlos Alcaraz showmance? romance? We speak at length about America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders S2, which is now streaming Netflix, trying to uncover if it is sinister, soothing, or something in between. Sumner recommends miniseries Toxic Town, also on Netflix, starring Jodie Whittaker, Aimee Lou Wood, and Claudia Jessie. She also recommends the DC Morgan detective book series by Clare Mackintosh.

In which we discuss the fact that all of the news of the week is too serious and scary to talk about. We toss out ideas of what we could touch on but reject them all except for the Abedin-Soros Democratic Party Royal Wedding in the Hamptons this past weekend. In tennis we touch on some surprising grass season results (Sinner v Bublik! Coco falls!) and go over the structure of the relaunched mixed doubles "tournament" planned for the US Open. We react to each of the entered pairings and, in a departure from our usual US vs UK topic of the week, we build out our dream mixed doubles pairings, drafting from current players. This is a tennis heavy episode and we aren't mad about it! In content, Alexa shares an update on Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Sumner gives a review of the first two episodes of "Outrageous," a historical flight of fancy about the infamous Mitford sisters (currently airing on Britbox in the States and UKTV in the UK).

F1 takes us to Montreal for the Canadian GP where Lewis Hamilton is distraught over maybe hitting a groundhog, George and Max come in p1 and p2 (worst case scenario), and team Ferrari appears to be quietly quitting.
