Also, Mary chooses our next Bingo Buddy read, and serenades us with a new outro. • Episode 31: Tomes & Tonics & A Wicked Pissah
Hey, hey, hey! We have been in our happy place reading Onyx Storm and cannot wait to share our thoughts and theories on next week's episode. We took a week off to devour the latest Empyrean novel and are excited to be back chatting our current reads, books on the horizon, and Bingo Buddy's latest pick! Join us this week as we venture up to Maine for Emily Henry's emotional "Happy Place." Lauren made a Maine-themed cocktail, Christina chats about how the characters made her feel (pour one out for Hank), and we actually make a connection between Legally Blonde and Happy Place (it's a stretch, but we got there). While we are sad the end was cut off, we are extremely thrilled and grateful for you listening to another episode of Tomes & Tonics! So grab your fave beach beverage, go to your happy place and tune in for another episode of "Tomes and Tonics," now available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts! Cheers!

  • Episode 30: Tomes & Tonics & An Unavailable Chaperone
We are without a chaperone, taking "aesthetic" beverage photos, yearning for the Atlantis symbol cereal from our childhood, and creating our own cocktails on this week's episode of Tomes & Tonics! Join us as we talk about how exciting it is that this time next week we will be reading "Onyx Storm," what makes a good cocktail, and, of course, our latest duology read - "What the River Knows" and "Where the Library Hides!" We dive into all things Inez and Whit, our fondness of the film classic, "The Mummy," and explore Cleopatra's interesting and haunting underwater palace in Alexandria. So grab your favorite tonic and join us as we chat about these two adventurous tomes on a new episode of Tomes & Tonics, now streaming on Spotify and Apple Podcasts!

  • Episode 28 Tomes & Tonics & Our Best of 2024
We cannot believe 2024 is already coming to an end, and we are thrilled to still be sharing our bookish thoughts, reviews, and, of course, having our tonics and reading our tomes. This week, we cover the absolute chaos that is Amazon's "Under the Mistletoe" holiday novellas and cover our honorable mentions, superlatives and of course our top five reads of 2024! We laughed, we cringed, and most importantly, we got excited for all the amazing reads coming in 2025. Cheers to all of you for joining us in our first year and to all the amazing readers and writers out there. This one is for you! • Episode 27: Tomes & Tonics & Love Island in a Castle

Happy holidays (and belated Solstice) from Tomes & Tonics! While we take some time to spend with friends and family and to plan for the new year, we have an exciting vault episode for you! Dive into the past with us as we chat about Christina's temporary new space, Lauren's oversized glass, if Stanley's are over-hyped, Christina gives her thoughts on a book that won Goodreads' Best Fiction book, and, of course, one of our favorite reads of 2024, Rachel Gillig's exciting conclusion to the Shepherd King Duology, "Two Twisted Crowns." Christina brings NINE Post-it's aka nine orange squares with words on them as we dive into all things Blunder, the Nightmare, and our love for our boy, Prince Elm. And we take a little detour when Lauren has to know what the Nightmare's Oompa Loompa song would me (trust us, you won't want to miss this, but also we apologize in advance and thanks ChatGPT). So grab your favorite holiday cocktail or mocktail, tune in for this special vault episode, and, of course - be wary, be clever, be good.

  • Episode 26: Tomes & Tonics & The Clara Show
We may have recorded this on the unluckiest day of the year, but we aren't letting that dampen our holiday spirit! While we may still be running around to finish all the shopping, holiday baking and getting to the post office on time, we made time to slow down and chat about this week's holiday book pick, "The Kingdom of Sweets," with our special guest, Jacques the Nutcracker Prince. This "dark retelling of the Nutcracker" had us feeling many different ways and holly jolly was definitely....not one of them, but we do somehow connect "Kingdom of Sweets" to "Wicked," "Shrek," and "Queen Charlotte" (trust us....we are going somewhere with these comparisons). So grab your fave candy or beverage and join us as we skip off to Candyland on the latest episode of "Tomes & Tonics," now streaming on Spotify and Apple Podcasts!

  • Episode 25: Tomes & Tonics & The Unofficial Members of the Inglewild Phone Tree

Ho, ho, ho! Happy holidays from Tomes & Tonics! Of course, we also have a great book in store for you this week with BookTok and Bookstagram sensation, Lovelight Farms by BK Borison, aka the perfect cozy holiday read to ease you into the most wonderful time of the year. We cover the glory that is the Inglewild phone tree, our least favorite microtropes, and the importance of finding someone who loves you right and loves you well.
