In dieser Sonderfolge bündelt TOMORROW THINKING – A Podcast with Johann Alexis erstmals alle Gesprächsmomente, in denen das Kunstwerk Truth is Capital im Zentrum steht.
Hier entsteht keine isolierte Werkinterpretation.
– Wo entsteht Zustimmung – wo produktive Reibung?

In this episode of Tomorrow Thinking, Johann Alexis speaks with Mathieu Lefèvre, co-founder and CEO of More in Common, about one of the defining challenges of our time: why our societies feel increasingly polarised - and what still connects us beneath the noise.
More in Common has become one of the most influential international organisations working at the intersection of research, politics and civil society. With large-scale surveys, behavioural insights and on-the-ground partnerships, the team advises governments, NGOs, media organisations and businesses on how to strengthen social cohesion and rebuild trust in democratic systems.
Lefèvre’s personal story is deeply intertwined with questions of identity, exile and belonging. Raised between cultures in a French-American family shaped by political displacement and intergenerational memory, he developed an early sensitivity to what binds societies together - and what tears them apart. Before founding More in Common, he worked internationally across civic initiatives and public engagement projects, always focused on participation and democratic resilience.
At the heart of the conversation lies a fundamental tension of our present moment:
Why does the perception of division often exceed reality?
We speak about the “exhausted majority”, the crisis of loneliness and loss of agency, the role of influencers and storytellers in shaping public opinion, and the need to translate research into tangible action - moving from thinking to doing.
As in every episode, the dialogue also intersects with one of Johann’s artworks. In front of Truth is Capital, they reflect on truth, trust and the fragile relationship between evidence, belief and narrative in a world saturated with information. Not as a slogan, but as an open question: whose truth, and how do we rebuild shared ground?
A thoughtful, human and quietly hopeful conversation about democracy, responsibility and the possibility of reconnection.
Johann Alexis von Haehling is a Franco-German multidisciplinary artist. His work spans painting, sculpture, installation, video and socially engaged projects. As a curator, he collaborates with a selected group of leading contemporary artists. At the centre of his practice lies a simple but urgent question: how can human beings orient and transform themselves within a rapidly changing cultural, ecological and technological world?
He understands art as a medium to explore new ways of thinking, acting and living together – just like this podcast.

What is Europe’s soft power today - and is it strong enough to carry this continent into the future with sovereignty and confidence? In this episode of Tomorrow Thinking, Johann Alexis speaks with Olivier Guez - bestselling author and one of the sharpest chroniclers of Europe today: winner of the Prix Renaudot for his novel “The Disappearance of Josef Mengele,” co-author of the multi-award-winning film “The People vs. Fritz Bauer,” columnist for Le Monde, The New York Times, FAZ, among others - and most recently Visiting Professor at Princeton University. We talk about: - his Berlin years of radical freedom, history, and electronic music - American Spleen: how he sensed America’s decline long before Trump - Europe’s soft power today: quality of life, culture, cities, universities - and why this is Europe’s true strategic capital - the destroyed cultural center of Europe after the disappearance of its Jewish and German mediators - the idea of a European culture - from “schnitzel maps” to a potential Forum for Europe in Baden-Baden - and Johann Alexis’ art work “truth is CAPITAL”: truth, capital, and the loss of a shared center Olivier Guez argues: Europe will only remain relevant if it becomes desirable again - politically, culturally, morally.

Dr. Tidiane Ouattara is one of the key architects of this mission - a visionary who connects space technology, development, security, sovereignty and humanity.
In this conversation we talk about:
- Why Africa is moving strategically into space
– How satellites solve real problems: agriculture, climate data, infrastructure, security
– The geopolitical role of Africa in a shifting global world
– How Europe and Africa can collaborate with respect and clarity
– Why cultural understanding is essential for innovation
– The human perspective of a continent often misunderstood
It is an inspiring, deep and at moments emotional conversation that challenges European assumptions and opens new horizons.
A must-listen. You won’t find this perspective anywhere else.

Baroness Ruth Hunt of Bethnal Green is a leading voice at the intersection of politics, ethics, and culture. Appointed to the House of Lords by Prime Minister Theresa May and the late Queen Elizabeth II, she now serves on several committees of the Council of Europe, where she advocates for human rights, democracy, and social inclusion across the continent. Formerly the CEO of Stonewall UK and today the founder of Deeds and Words, Ruth works with global institutions to foster leadership rooted in integrity and empathy.
In this conversation with Johann Alexis, she reflects on power, purpose, and courage - and on how art can become a bridge between politics, business, and society, inspiring the moral imagination we need to navigate complexity. They discuss what it means to lead with conviction, to transform resistance into creative force, and to find clarity and balance in public life.
A deeply human dialogue about values, creativity, and the art of leadership in Europe’s new age of transformation.
