Today’s guest came highly recommended because of her track record as a leader and coach of a Cross Country Team. As I always say, you don’t have to run a business or be part of a corporate organization to be a leader. Today’s episode is going to prove just that.
Coach Kimberly Henry is the Head Women's Track and Field Coach at Holly Springs High School. We talked about turnaround, culture, leadership and so much more. You are going to find this episode inspiring, so make sure you stay tuned.
Who is Kimberly Henry:
With the exception of a few years in my 20s, I have been an avid runner for the past 30+ years. I was the distance coach for the Town of Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Track and Field team for three seasons, getting ready to start my 8th season coaching the Holly Springs High School Track & Field team, and I’m currently finishing my 9th year of coaching the Holly Springs High School XC team. In 2011, I earned my USATF Level 1 Coaching Certification and I earned my USATF Level 2 Youth Specialization Coaching Certification in 2013. I was named Girls SWAC XC Coach of the Year in 20I7. I am pretty passionate about running and love to share that with kids and adults alike.

Coaching is a topic that is near and dear to my heart. I feel for the leaders who had or are having a hard time coaching others because I did too. I had to be coached in order to effectively coach others.
So in today’s episode, I share a coaching experience I recently did with my son. But unlike the coaching sessions I did before this was me teaching my son how to drive a stick shift. That experience made me realize how important it is for leaders to pause and think through each and every step to be successful at something. Stay tuned and I’m sure you’ll enjoy this episode.

What does being a soccer team captain and goalie during a penalty kick have to do with today’s episode? A LOT!
This game reminded me of a leader’s role in setting the organization’s culture to do what it takes for the team to succeed with or without acknowledgment. If you are looking for people to promote in your organization, look for someone who is similar to this team’s captain. He shared a piece of information that gave someone else the boost of confidence to make the team win.

In case you have a few of these in your group, I also share three options that you can do because, at the end of the day, you don’t want to pay the price for keeping these toxic people in your group.
