This may be the most important episode you hear all day/week/month/year/life. This is the thing that changed my life in the most profound ways: processing emotion. Un-shaming emotions. Embracing our sensitive natures.
We all die a million deaths within our life before our actual physical death. We have to let go of so much through life.
How painful letting go can be. How intense it can feel.
I think about how we let go of things big and small. Whether it be other people, past versions of ourselves, dreams, etc.
Sometimes we don't even name the grief of letting go because we don't realize that's the feeling. Or we think we're overreacting so we suppress our emotions.
The results of unacknowledged grief are disconnection to yourself. And the result of disconnection to ourselves is not knowing how we feel, who we are, what we want, or how to feel better.
Our brain says, "don't know what I feel but I feel weird and so I'm going to numb out. I'm going to like eat a bunch of snacks to try to fill the void or play video games for 6 hours. I'm just going to distract myself until this goes away."
I'm here to tell you: YOU MAKE SENSE. How you feel and who you are make sense based on how you've been conditioned. We're conditioned to believe sensitivity is a problem, emotions are problems. So we numb out and NEVER PROCESS/DIGEST and DISSOLVE the emotions. They stick around, causing all kinds of chaos and illness.
And all we had to do was feel our feelings and not judge ourselves for them. Know that nothing is wrong with us for feeling what we do when we feel something.
"Processing emotions" is like, the most boring fucking sentence ever, but when we go deeper, it could not be more important. It could not be more fundamental and crucial to your sustainable well being - to your happiness - to your joy - to your feelings of relief and freedom -- like holy shit.
I want to bring to light that YOU make sense. Your feelings make sense.
I profoundly care about you reconnecting to yourself, and discovering who you are in a way that is NOT through the lens of shame, but a lens of such unconditional love and compassion.
