Movie soundtracks and their evolutions have been a top that has fascinated me. They’ve been a staple of film and pop culture for a long time, hitting a massive turning point in 1977 with the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever headlined by The Bee Gees.

The 90s decade was another significant needle mover where they became almost essential to the marketing of the film. Somewhere in the middle of the decade, the soundtrack became almost as important as the film itself. They even got away from the songs being used as a single even having something to do with the movie at all. They just needed a hit.

Recording an episode with a group talking about these songs by way of their favorite ones was a dream of mine when I was planning the show last summer. I couldn’t even have imagined being more impressed with the results than I was with the ones in this episode. There was light crossover and a varied, diverse selection of songs across the board.
