  • When Perception Meets Reality.

Some people make things happen, some watch what is happening, while most say 'what happened'.

Charles was sitting in a huge auditorium waiting for the legendary Tom Jones to come on stage and entertain over ten thousand people from the Century 21 Real Estate worldwide network. Over the previous few days, he attended as many breakout sessions as possible, along with the main final day, which was full of the best speakers in the world at the time. Charles was on a high, and as an Australian in the early nineties, everyone wanted to speak to you! All the Australians attending wore Australian Akubra hats, made famous almost a decade earlier by Paul Hogan in Crocodile Dundee! Everywhere I went, people stopped me and wanted to chat. Mind you, as an Australian born with Lebanese heritage, I looked like an idiot in an Akubra, but who cared as it worked for me in the USA! People focus too much on how they look, but as we all change over time, it also must be about how you think, how you act, how you behave, how you perform and how you treat others. In this episode, Charles has an unusual experience. Perception can be a nasty liar and can often entice the unsuspecting into doing business with the unqualified bullshit artist. You can fake it until you make it, but eventually, your authentic self will catch up with your now.

  • The Curse Of Early Success

    The Curse of Early Success

In this episode, Charles reflects on his past; Charles can recall memories of several individuals within his circle of influence who made it big. At the same time, they were young, and they, along with their wealth, have since disappeared. Some people who have had early success have gone on to do great things, but those who planned on having early success with nothing planned beyond have lost their wealth and their motivation to start again. Of course, things change when you have money. You change when you have money, but cash flow also changes when you sell the very business that provided you with it.

  • Ambitious Failures

There are many ordinary people in extraordinary positions. You see them everywhere. You turn on the TV, and there they are! Someone with a speech impediment reading the news or even a Politician who looks more like a retired Accountant. How did they get there? I have witnessed over the years so many people succeed at what they are doing, and I have seen so many, who have worked even harder fail, so why is this the case?

  • First Impressions Shouldn't Count

In this episode, Charles shares a story that he was standing in his office with his back to the office street entrance talking with several of his team when suddenly, the entrance door flung open, and his team members disappeared. It was almost as though someone had passed wind, and the smell was overwhelming! The receptionist had gone to lunch, so no one was attending the front desk at the time. Charles turned to see what the commotion was all about, and there stood this short new Australian lady who wore a filthy dress. Charles was the only one visible to her as the rest of the team had already judged her, and as far as they were concerned, she had just come in off the street looking for a few dollars to buy her next drink. Judge Charles, all you like while you listen to this story, but this is common in every industry. People are so quick to judge someone based on their appearance without even understanding how this person got to be in the state they were in.

  • You Are Always The Problem

The Voice of Charles. Over the years, I have listened to many speakers, read business and success books, and listened to successful people around me. I often think back and realize that much of the advice offered was, in some ways, just plain rubbish, especially with books written by people who became successful because of the book itself! But one author, through several adversities, managed to pen simple books that packed a punch and resonated with me! Nothing beats real experiences, but you don't want to die in the process, so learning from other people's mistakes can be very helpful, but once again, nothing is as it seems. Many of the books I read constantly referenced hard work and that putting in the hours would guarantee me success.

  • Routine Sex

Far too many people leave it up to their memory to keep in control of what they need to do. For a long time (since 1978), Charles has used a written diary and, over recent years, has integrated to some degree with a web-based calendar. He still can't get the full benefit of going electronic as one of the main benefits he gets from a handwritten diary is that any task Charles doesn't complete, he transfers to the next day – re-writing and reinforcing the diary entry. It's also nice to have a hard copy of years of diaries that you can reflect upon. In this episode, he recalls a diary meeting with a team member that had an interesting booking.
