The saying that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear is an old saying that has been attributed to Buddha but is similar to a saying written back in the 1880s, so however it came about, it certainly has a great deal of meaning. • World of Challenges

In this episode, Charles shares his clarity on the topic of challenges.

I get the feeling that the world is full of challenges, literally packed with them. Occasionally, we are thrown a challenge we weren't expecting. And somehow, I also feel that we have a say in some of the challenges we would like to take on.

  • Assumptive Risk

In this episode, Charles shares a story of visiting an office principal to provide him with sales folders for the last few sales. As he opened one, which happened to be one the principal had made, Charles had the idea to call the seller and ask if they knew anyone else thinking of buying or selling, given that we had successfully sold their home. The principal pointed out that he had been at this particular lady's home for a barbeque on the weekend just gone, and if she had known anybody, she would undoubtedly have already told him. Charles learnt a long time ago never to assume anything in this business, but even more concerning was the fact he had driven five hours to get there at his request, lost the front end of my new car, and all he could say was he didn't need to call her, so I let him have it! He finally relented. The results were terrific.

  • Charles (Auctioneering) The Hallway of Life # 2.

Some people don't know whether they have lost a cow or found a piece of rope. Hallway of Life - # 2 - Auctioneering I was still in my teens, working in the real estate office my sister got me into and was reading the jobs section of the newspaper. Something must have triggered my inner needs and up popped this advert that said 'Wanted, a young man needed for our Records Section', and I thought, that's me as all along I wanted to be a rock star. The advert said to apply in person and gave an address in Castlereagh Street, Sydney. I rolled up and walked down this long corridor to the elevators, and then up a floor and then down another long hall to a small reception area where a lovely grey-headed lady with a headpiece on was sitting answering calls on a very large switchboard with plugs coming out of it everywhere – something that you could now do the same job with just using your iPhone! Something was strange about my walk down the corridor as I noticed photographs of racehorses dotted along the corridor wall.
