This opening text depicts two images of man: one a godly, the other ungodly. The godly man is one who is alert, and sees the importance of being grounded in God. He doesn’t allow the world to influences his character. He is encouraged to not take counsel from ungodly people, or hang around a sinful environment and not become comfortable with wickedness. The ungodly is described as not having any footing when judgement comes, they are like chaff and the wind takes it away. The godly man takes precautions to guard against sin by reading and studying God’s Word. He meditates on it allows him to have a solid ground. The godly man knows that God has a purpose for them and when its their season all the work will have paid off.

Psalms 125:1-2

In these trying times, this Bible encourages us to know that we will be surrounded by promises, peace, protection, power, and prescience. Just as the mountains surround cities, God surrounds His people who trust in Him. He gives us support for whatever we need, protection from our enemies, and stability. Trusting in God is more than just religious activities, more than reading your Bible, it's believing in the promises that He made to be all we need. The city of Jerusalem is surrounded by mountains and those who would travel have to go over and through the mountains. When the enemy wants to attack us he must go through God first. When life comes to shake us we can trust that God will use His power to protect us and give us peace in His promises knowing His prescience is there surrounding us.
