Don’t Let Life Choke You

Matthew` 13:4-15

Pastor Jackson speaks from Matthew about the parable of the sower. A parable is a story told with natural symbolism for spiritual principles.

Jesus was speaking to a group of people whose primary commerce was gardening and used terms that they would understand the principles. The seed sown is the Word of God, the ground is the hearer's heart.

There are four groups where the seeds fell with different types of ground. The first group is the wayside. Some people hear the Word but they are in a place of compromise, or the wayside, so the seeds don't take any roots. This group doesn't have faith in God.

The second group was the stony ground. The seed fell on the ground but it's shallow so there was no root. The enemy came and they were easily persuaded. They had no substance to their faith. They start strong but don’t last long and don't want to put in the time to grow.

The third group was the thorny ground. They heard the Word and received the Word and began to bear fruit but the cares of this life began to choke them. Strength and weakness grow up together, the more you grow the more trouble is here, but God doesn't give us a spirit of fear so we can trust God to take care of us.

The last group is the good ground. This is the group who heard the Word, received the Word, and began to grow and show fruit. They trusted God and He took care of them, just as He does the flowers of the Earth.

God Is Getting Ready To Do The Extraordinary

Acts 14:8-15

Pastor Jackson speaks from the books of Acts about God doing the extraordinary for a lame man. God wants to do something special for His believers during these times.

Paul and Barnabas are ministering in Lystra and while speaking there was a lame man listening. The lame man had never walked, yet he had the faith to believe that he could. The extraordinary in your life will take place when you have faith in God. This type of faith comes from hearing and believing the Word of God. Paul performed a miracle but insisted to the people that he was just an ordinary man. The miracle isn't that the lame man could walk, but it was that God uses ordinary people to do the extraordinary. God wants to use our faith to do amazing things that in return give Him glory.

Faith For Unexpected Problems

Matthew 13:24-30

Pastor Jackson speaks from Matthew 13 about having faith in unexpected problems. Jesus tells the story of the farmer and the wheat and tares, or weeds. The farmer was expecting to see wheat when he planted and he got it, but in the midst of it, he also got an unexpected surprise.

Jesus teaches us the kingdom of heaven is like a garden. What is planted is what will harvest. If you want to change what's reaping then you need to change what you're sowing. The enemy will always try to plant a seed to grow up with the good thing that God has planted and wants to kill the the thing that God wants you to be.

When you see the bad things coming up with the good things, that is an indicator that you are coming into your season of blessing because the enemy wouldn’t be attacking so hard unless he was trying to prevent a blessing. When you have something unexpected come up, you need faith to know that God’s plan for our lives is to prosper and be in good health.

God Is Going To Get Us Out Of This

Exodus 5:1-2, 6:1-6

Pastor Jackson speaks from Exodus and reminds us that God will deliver his people from bondage in His time.

The books of Exodus contains a bunch of symbols for the New Testament deliverance. Moses is a type of deliverer, Pharoah is a type of Satan, Egypt is type of sin. The deliverance came when the Isrealites used the blood, and we need to plead the Blood of Jesus in our lives to make it through.

God doesn't bring Israel out to wander, but to worship. He wants to have a relationship with them, but only on His terms. When the children of Israel saw Pharaoh die, they were free to worship and sometimes we cant be free until God kills off everything not like Him.

Romans 12:1-2

Lord Make Me a LIving Sacrifice

Pastor Jackson talks about being a living sacrifice from the book of Romans.

Paul’s writing to the Romans as a Jew, and he was sent there to show the grace of God to the most unlikely people to receive the Gospel. This shows God’s power. and that He can transform your life for the better even when everyone thinks that your life is too messed for God to save.

Paul is teaching the converted Romans how to manifest what they now possess in Christ. Now that they are in Christ, Paul reminds them that their lives are no longer their own. Their entire body was now an instrument for God to use and sometimes our flesh doesn't want to listen to the Spirit, which makes it a constant sacrifice. This is our reasonable service back to God for all that He has done for us.

The three Hebrew boys are a perfect example of God’s promise. God won’t deliver you through it until He delivers you to it. When they were thrown in the fire, He was there and no harm came to them.

Stay With God's Plan

God has already devised an escape before the Enemy launches an attack. He is always preparing a way for us to get out. The fact that you have a problem is a sign that you also have a promise from God.

Jesus demonstrates the process of staying with the plan when He goes to the cross and comes out with all power. When Jesus cries out while on the Cross, He shows us that the feeling of being forsaken is apart of the process. Even though Jesus felt alone, His faith was still strong and He stayed with the plan.

In The Midst Of The Crisis……

Mark 4:35-41

First Lady Jackson speaks from Mark about how to handle life in the midst of a crisis. A crisis is a difficult time where a solution is needed quickly. The Bible reminds us that in the midst if the storm the Lord is in the middle of it.

Jesus was sleeping during a storm and the disciples were worried. Their faith was replaced by fear and they can't live together. Sometimes you can have faith for someone else during their storm, but when it's your storm, it's your faith that is being tested. The storm came to help build the disciples' faith.

There are three things you can do to keep your head up during a crisis: fight the good fight of faith, finish the course, and keep the faith.

Jesus demonstrates His power to prove that even while we are in a crisis, He can be your peace in the storm!

This Test Is Making Me Stronger

James 1:12-17

Pastor Jackson talks about temptation from the book of James.

The Bible is clear about who is tempted and the fact is that every one is going to be tempted in life. Dealing with temptations doesn’t mean that you are necessarily a sinner as Jesus himself was tempted in the dessert. The way Jesus was able to win in the dessert was He combated with Scripture. Being tested is a component of being human, and it's the Word of God that helps us fight against the Devil. This test isn't about a sinful effect but about God showing us where we are in Him, it's an assessment for building up our faith. God will train us with weight but never with sin. Just liking working out at the gym, this weight is there to make you stronger. The more you resist the temptation, the more your faith is building muscles. The goal is to receive a crown of life which God will give to those who resist the temptation.
