In this episode of Top of Mind, host Hayley Westoby sits down with Dalton Henshaw, founder of Bullfrog and one of Australia’s most influential creative leaders, to explore what it really takes to build a people-first business that’s high-performing, values-led, and unapologetically different.
Dalton shares the journey behind launching Bullfrog - a creative business that has quickly become one of the top independents in the country - and the mindset shifts, leadership philosophies, and structural decisions that have shaped its success.
Together, Hayley and Dalton unpack:
Why “people-first” is often misunderstood in business
The critical difference between transparency and vulnerability as a leader
How to build a culture where failure is seen as growth
What founders get wrong when hiring senior leaders
The power of internal brand building and employer reputation
Why Bullfrog ditched traditional agency structures for something smarter
And how they ended up with a Guinness World Record for a hairy suit (!)
Dalton also opens up about dealing with tall poppy syndrome, the importance of trusting your gut, and why he believes the best leaders are willing to clap for themselves in an empty auditorium.
Whether you're building a brand, leading a team, or simply rethinking what modern leadership looks like - this episode is a must-listen.

Psychology and marketing go hand in hand- because at the end of the day, marketing is all about people.
In this solo episode of Top of Mind, Hayley dives deep into five powerful psychological theories that shape the way we buy, behave, and build brands. Whether you're running a business, managing a personal brand, or just curious about why you actually added that thing to cart... this episode will get your brain buzzing!
This isn't textbook theory - it's real-world, real-talk insights you can actually use.
In this episode, Hayley breaks down:
- The Mere Exposure Effect and why consistency breeds trust
- Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and how it helps you write better messaging
- The Social Influence Theory (aka why testimonials and social proof work)
- The Scarcity Principle and how to build urgency without being gross about it
- The Reciprocity Principle, or as I like to call it, The Psychology of Free Sht*
Plus, she shows you how to actually use each of these in your marketing - whether you’re a solo founder, side hustler, or seasoned brand strategist.
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering how to make your content stick, your messaging convert, or your brand feel more human - this one’s for you.

Last month marks four years since I started my business—and honestly, if you told me back then where I’d be now, I wouldn’t have believed you. In this solo episode of Top of Mind, I’m sharing the four biggest lessons I’ve learned since starting Gambit Collective, in the hope that they help you feel a little less alone in your own journey.
I'm not claiming to be a business expert—but I am an expert in my own experience. And after four years of wins, failures, lessons, and big mindset shifts, I’ve got a few things to say about what it really takes to build a business that works for you.
In this episode, I open up about:
- The biggest mistake I made in year one (and what I’d do differently)
- Why learning to say “no” was the best thing I ever did
- How my network has been my biggest growth tool
- The moment I realised comparing myself to others was holding me back
- Why moving fast (and failing fast) has helped me grow smarter, not just bigger
I’m also answering some rapid-fire questions from my team, friends, and our community—including my proudest moment so far, a mistake I’m actually grateful for, and the one mantra that keeps me going when things get hard.
If you’re a business owner or leader —or even just someone thinking about starting something—this episode is for you. I hope it reminds you that your way is the right way, and you don’t need to follow anyone else’s version of success to find your own.
Have you got a question you want me to answer in a future solo episode? DM me, email me, or drop it in the comments. I’d love to hear from you.

In today’s digital age, networking is no longer about what you know—or even who you know—it’s about who knows you. With LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok redefining personal branding, is traditional networking still worth it? Or should we be focusing solely on up-skilling and boosting our online presence?
This panel, recorded live at SXSW Sydney 2024, dives into how the creator economy has changed the game for personal branding and business growth. We discuss the ongoing crisis of connection in an era where we are more digitally linked than ever before. Are in-person connections still essential, or is the future all about who shows up best online?
Key Discussion Points:
Featuring:
