NCPR reporters are out in the field this Election Day to cover races all over the North Country. Among the top races we will be following are the NY-21 House race, NYS Assembly Districts 116 and 118, NYS Senate District 45, control of the St. Lawrence County legislature and the sheriff races in Clinton and Franklin counties.

Here are short takes on the state of play in each race.

Elana Meyers Taylor has the Olympic spirit. She likes to win, she likes to be in the driver's seat, and she likes to pay it forward to the next generation.

Meyers Taylor, 34, is a bobsledder from Douglasville, Georgia. Over the past 11 seasons, she's won three Olympic medals, including a silver at the 2018 games in Pyeongchang, South Korea; four World Championship gold medals, two for the team event and two driving her own sled; and more than 60 World Cup medals.
