NCPR reporters are out in the field this Election Day to cover races all over the North Country. Among the top races we will be following are the NY-21 House race, NYS Assembly Districts 116 and 118, NYS Senate District 45, control of the St. Lawrence County legislature and the sheriff races in Clinton and Franklin counties.

Here are short takes on the state of play in each race.

Five people injured in a shooting at a Watertown nightclub over the weekend have been released from the hospital. Police have arrested and charged a suspect, but there’s no word on a motive.

Candidates in the North Country's big House race - and also a lot of state-level races - are heading into the final weekend of campaigning. Republican incumbent Elise Stefanik won big two years ago. Tuesday's outcome is expected to be much, much closer.

Democrats are leading in the polls in New York's statewide races for governor, attorney general and comptroller. The most heated contests this Election Day are in the state Senate, where Democrats are trying to win enough seats to take control of the chamber away from Republicans.
