    Award-winning poet and writer Mary Karr will speak at SUNY Canton tonight at 6:30 pm as part of the Living Writers series.
    Our book reviewer Betsy Kepes recently finished reading Karr’s newest publication, a book of poetry titled, Tropic of Squalor.
    Betsy also did a bit of research and discovered that before Karr’s very popular memoir, The Liar’s Club, published in 1995, she’d written three books of poetry.
    Todd Moe asked for her take on Karr's fourth book of poetry.

  • Private land conservation deals shape Adirondack Park
    An environmental group called the Adirondack Land Trust has protected more than 2,000 acres of private land and waterways near the Whitney Wilderness Area.
    The parcel in Long Lake won't be open to the public. But the new deal with a private landowner will block future development, protecting waterways that include a rare wild strain of brook trout.

They'll present a concert for this year’s Jewish Music Festival performance at Congregation Beth El in Potsdam on Monday at 7 pm, and perform Tuesday at 4 pm in SUNY Canton's Cyber Cafe.
    Soulful, World Music songstress meets Classical Indian Music and Jazz bassist for this concert of traditional sounds re-imagined. The duo will celebrate Sephardic music in Judeo-Spanish and original songs in Hebrew.
    Todd Moe spoke with Aviva Chernick, who lives in Toronto. She's just returned from a West Coast tour, and is eager to share some new original and traditional world music that'll be included in a new album.
