Lyn Woodward (@lyn__woodward), automotive journalist and video reviewer at Kelley Blue Book, joins Jorge Aquino on the Tormenting Tarmac car podcast to talk slow cars, old Porsches and life in automotive media.

Lyn's love of cars started in the back jump seats of her dad's Porsche 356 cabriolets, and her first car was a 1977 Datsun B210 with a four-speed manual. Today she daily-drives a 2013 fifth-gen Toyota 4Runner and is deep into a rolling restoration of a 1967 Porsche 912 she bought in November 2023 and got running in time to drive it to Monterey Car Week the following August. We talk why she'd much rather drive a slow car fast, why the interior mattered more than the paint, and the joy of reviewing cars for everyday buyers.

We also cover her road from advertising and screenwriting (three produced movies) to 11 years as a car journalist, why good writing still matters, why AI can't drive a car and tell you what it thinks of it, competing in the Rebelle Rally six times (including a podium) and joining its media team this year, a drive-yourself safari in the Serengeti, and what car culture means to her: community.

Cole is well known throughout entertainment as the director of famous GlamBot. You will have seen it at almost every award show in Hollywood, it is awesome. But I bet you did not know that Cole is an enormous automotive enthusiast. We discuss his 91 Mercedes G Wagon 2 door diesel and he just picked up his new to him 992 GT3 6 speed this past holiday season. So yeah, his car credentials are pretty stout. We chat about where his love for cars started, the car culture he grew up in around Vancouver in BC, his love for the 458 and so much more. Plus we chat if his directing job and love for filmmaking affect his enjoyment of movie watching. It is a great conversation and I am so stoked we were able to make this happen.
