TQ 084 Khila from Nepal
Here's an interview I did a year ago with a short-term teacher at my university. Right now (11 am) I'm in a hotel room, waiting for my mother to pick me up. Monday I flew from Nanning to Hong Kong, then spent the night in a hotel next to the airport, then flew on Tuesday from Hong Kong to Chicago (almost 15 hour, but I had enough room for my legs, so that made the long flight more comfortable), and from Chicago to Springfield, Missouri. My mother is driving the 2 1/2 hours from her home to here to get me. Soon I will be Home, Sweet, Home!
=======
Khila was a short-term teacher at my university in China. He is from Nepal, but is now teaching in the U.S. He teaches at the same university in Michigan as Maria from TQ 046. He talks about Nepalese naming customs, a Hindu holiday in Nepal, and working as a trainer for U.S. Peace Corps workers there. Listen as I get my eastern religions mixed up. Note to self: Buddhist/Buddhism and Hindu/Hinduism are not the same thing! I know that, but I got them mixed up in my mind. Also listen for words that Khila used that you may not know: astrologer, predominantly, reincarnation, Mt. Everest (English name), bitter squash, okra, treaty, Ghurka warriors, and legacy.
