  • How was your summer?

Transformations with Jayne Podcast is getting ready to go again after a lovely summer off from podcasting.

In this short episode I'm sharing some of the learnings from this Covid summer in Japan which was not what I would have planned if we were able to travel and be with other people just now.

How about you? How was your summer? Drop us a message over on Instagram or Facebook. We'd love to hear how you managed the summer and for some the summer vacation is not over yet! Fingers crossed we can all be back to our usual schedules soon.

  • Life in Japan in Kochi: Running an outdoor adventure business with Zoe Kanzawa

I am constantly amazed by the resourcefulness and ability to adapt to new situations by the members of our Transformations with Jayne community! Zoe Kanzawa is making the most of an amazing area in Kochi prefecture, where she and her husband run Niyodo Adventure, a pack rafting and canyoning business that explores the Niyodo river. You have to google Niyodo River now. It’s the most beautiful river I’ve ever seen in Japan.

If you enjoyed this episode and it inspired you in some way, we’d love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. Take a screenshot of yourself listening to the episode on your device, post it to your Instagram Stories, and tag me and Zoe, @transformationswithjayne and @niyodoadventure

or send us a message here.

    In this episode you’ll hear:

    • How Zoe came to be living in Kochi and running her river guiding business
    • Zoe’s recommendations for how to enjoy a trip to Kochi Prefecture
    • The fun connection Zoe and Jayne have to New Zealand
    • What a “mukade” is and why they are so scary
    • Finding a balance between “fitting in” and “staying true to yourself” in Japan

    About Zoe:

Zoe is a French Canadian Entrepreneur, Health coach and Yoga teacher living in Japan. Even though her education background was in 3D Animation, she soon realized after finishing her degree that it was not what lit her up and started travelling at 20 years old. She has been on a journey of healing and unpacking of beliefs about herself and her environment since. To her surprise, the deep work did not come from going to India, meditating or doing Yoga. She has also been on a Health journey for the last few years and has been helping people with similar issues she has been facing: digestion discomfort, chronic pain, fatigue, migraines and stress management through food, daily habits and last but not least - reconnecting with her intuition and true self. Her favorite hobbies include hiking, kayaking, taking a course in something new, driving with a good podcast or audiobook on and spending some time with her 2 cats and husband.

  • The challenges of being a “Good Mother” in Japan with Acco Omata

Acco Omata is a busy mother of three boys who is working on creating her best life. One thing that helped her to find her own voice and start to experiment with changing things that she didn’t like was starting her own podcast: Across the World. It was a big surprise to me when she said that noticing what I was doing on the TWJ podcast helped her to get started! We really do not know what reactions our actions will cause in the world!

If you enjoyed this episode and it inspired you in some way, we’d love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. Take a screenshot of yourself listening to the episode on your device, post it to your Instagram Stories, and tag me and Akiko, @transformationswithjayne and @acco.sing  or send us a message here.

    In this episode you’ll hear:

    • How Acco became a podcaster after being inspired by other women in Japan podcasting
    • How Acco experienced living overseas “One Ope” when her husband was transferred back to Japan
    • How we can get more freedom in our lives, even as women living in Japan
    • What Acco is going to try next!

    About Acco:

Acco Omata is a podcaster, imperfect story teller, and mother of three boys.

Born and raised in Hiroshima, she has started her career as an analyst in an American multinational company in Tokyo.

After giving birth to her 1st son, she moved to Singapore with her family and stayed there for 11 years, and one year in Malaysia.

She started her podcast, "Across the World" in 2019, in order to pursue her passion of sharing life stories, after settling into her new life in Japan.

She organizes online communities, coaches Japanese women who want to live the life they love, and helps in planning and organizing Online/Offline events.

I was introduced to Lillian by @violet.daike.pacileo and when this happens I always try to follow up and get to know them! Even though this episode is the first time to speak with Lillian, it really goes to show the power of podcasting for creating relationships and building a sense of community!
