It's about following that special shadow the moon casts upon the face of the sun. There is round about one total solar eclipse happening on Earth per year. But to see it, you have to be in the right place. Paul provides you with all the insights you need, to plan your next trip, so you will witness the darkening of our star, right above us. When the sky grows black during daytime, the birds stop chirping and a cool breeze picks up. You should see it at least once in your lifetime. And don't wait for it to show up at your doorstep. Humans have pushed the frontiers of exploration in space by sending probes to the edge of our Solar System and beyond. Just how far have we traveled, and what have we seen along the way? How do we keep in touch with the most distant objects, and what is left to learn from these probes? We will look at the very old Pioneer and Voyager missions past Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, as well as the New Horizons mission past Pluto and into the Kuiper Belt.

Im Mai 2024 fegte ein gewaltiger Sonnensturm über die Erde. Inzwischen hat er den Namen "Gannon Sturm" erhalten. Polarlichter flimmerten auf der ganzen Welt, bis über den Palmen von Hawaii. 

Aber hübsche Lichter am Himmel sind bei Weitem nicht alles, was so ein solarer Sturm mit sich bringt.

Stars appear mostly white to our naked eye in the night sky. Sometimes maybe a little red or yellow. But only faintly. In reality however, stars are as colorful as a rainbow! And their colors tell us a lot about the properties of each individual star, like a calling card. Their age, size, temperature, past and sometimes even their future is encoded in their chromatic appearance.
