The first set will start off with the title track from Holgar's “Good Morning Story” album, and later on you'll hear Holgar with band mate Jaki Liebezeit as well as Conny Plank, Jah Wobble, and Can themselves.

Later on RALPH CARNEY & DAVID THOMAS play their duet “Sunset in the Antipodes”(out of the “vault” from the "Bowling Balls from Hell" LP), I'll salute JOHN ABERCROMBIE'S life, play a cut from the NEW BEATLE'S SGT. • Transmusic Airwaves (Episode #228) - August 11, 2017 - with Paul Ciminero (host)
Got a hankering for the latest from THE FEELIES, or something by THE PLASTIC PEOPLE OF THE UNIVERSE, or maybe an acoustic interpretation of HARRY PARTCH'S music? Yeah I've got all of those lined up for you in the first set on this week's TRANSMUSIC AIRWAVES (Episode #228).

How about LOL COXHILL'S “cover” of "I Am the Walrus,” and CHROME'S version of King Crimson's “Moon Child,” perhaps a sailor's song sung slowly (say that fast five times) by JOSEPH ARTHUR, or FRANK ZAPPA'S jazz masterpiece “Waka Jawaka?” Yup, that's part of today's line up too!

Plus music from Naytronix, John Hartford, Lady June's Linguistic Leprosy, Negativland, The Dead Weather. Pearls Before Swine, Brian Prothroe, and NEW music from Jeff Tweedy, Vieux Farka Toure, The Magnetic Fields, Les Amazones D'Afrique, and Yo Yo Ma & the Silk Road Ensemble.

It's another week where variety meets obscurity and a whole lot of other interesting things.

  • Transmusic Airwaves (Episode #219) - June 9, 2017 - with Paul Ciminero (host)

It was 50 years ago today that “Sgt. Peppers brought the band to play.” And did they ever! The Beatles transformed the musical landscape with their legendary album, “Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band” in the summer of 1967 so on this edition of TRANSMUSIC AIRWAVES (Episode #219) I'll do my small part in remembering that moment by dedicating the first set to that amazing recording as interpreted by THE BOBS, THE FLAMING LIPS, AL DIMEOLA, THE MISSION UK, FEE WAYBILL, THE RUTLES, and THE BEATLES themselves.

But wait, there's more! (music that is). STICK MEN, ROBBIE FULKS, THE AVALANCHES, TODD RUNDGREN, WARPAINT, BIG WALNUTS YONDER, SERATONES, JUANA MOLINA, SYLVAN ESSO, and THE AFGHAN WHIGS all play their latest pieces.

From the “vault” you'll hear GENTLE GIANT'S “In A Glass House,” SHADOWFAX (playing Don Cherry), PENTANGLE (doing “Goodbye Pork Pie Hat”), VANGELIS’S composition “Albedo 0.39”, KEN NORDINE, TIN HUEY, KEVIN AYERS, and New York street musician MOONDOG. World music includes songs from TIGER BLOSSOM, TABLA BEAT SCIENCE, AND LES AMAZONES D'AFRIQUE. I'll even finish the show with another great song, “Castles Made of Sand,” by the master of the Stratocaster, JIMI HENDRIX.

Come one, come all and enjoy a fun packed three hour program.

  • Transmusic Airwaves (#189) -"Character Study" - with special guest DJ JACK KIDNEY- November 11, 2016 - with DJ Paul Ciminero (host)
Today’s TRANSMUSIC AIRWAVES (#189) marks the return of a segment called a “Character Study,” with a new format and a slightly different twist. I’ll be joined by JACK KIDNEY for a special interview and utilize him in the role of guest DJ during the final half of the show.

Jack has been a member of the group 15-60-75 (The Numbers Band) for the past four decades. The band blends original material into a blues, rhythm and roll musical style to produce a sound uniquely their own. He’ll bring with him today pieces from the band’s repertoire as well as selections from his NEW solo album, “Sealin’ Up The Past.”

In addition, he’ll mix cuts from his work with David Thomas (Pere Ubu) and Frank Black (Pixies) from albums of theirs that he appears on. Jack will also play cuts from several of his musical heroes including Bo Diddley, Albert Ayler, and The Rolling Stones. It’s a lively mix of music and conversation from this gifted master of blues harp and tenor sax.
