Postmaster General Louis DeJoy defended his management of the U.S. Postal Service and said the agency is fully capable of handling what is expected to be a record number of mail-in ballots in the November election. DeJoy appeared at a hearing of the Senate Homeland Security Committee on Friday. He said Congress was at fault for the agency’s dire financial situation because lawmakers had not enacted changes to the law that would allow it to get on a sustainable path. The House Oversight Committee is scheduled to question DeJoy today; Postal Service Board of Governors Chairman Robert Duncan is expected to join DeJoy.
