Michigan businessman Manuel “Matty” Moroun, the trucking and real estate magnate whose holdings included the bridge that connects Detroit to Windsor, Ontario, has died at 93. Besides the iconic Ambassador Bridge, Maroun owned Central Transport, the 44th-ranked fleet on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America. Known for political clashes throughout his career, he sparred with local communities, investor Warren Buffett, the Teamsters Union and even family members. Forbes has listed the Maroun family’s wealth at $1.7 billion.
