American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council has canceled its competitions geared toward truck technicians due to economic- and health-related concerns. iIn a June 1 letter to trucking industry professionals, TMC Executive Director Robert Braswell announced that the National Technician Skills Competitions, known as TMC SuperTech, and the National Student Technician Competition, known as TMCFutureTech, will not be held in 2020. The skills challenges originally were scheduled for Sept. 19-24 in Raleigh, N.C. TMC’s fall meeting, the event during which these competitions take place, has been moved to an all-virtual format. The meeting will be held Sept. 14-17. The decision to make the fall meeting virtual was rooted in concerns regarding the coronavirus pandemic and its financial implications, according to Braswell.
