U.S. retail truck sales were mixed for September, with Class 8 posting its highest monthly total of the year and medium-duty, which consists of Classes 4-7, coming in relatively flat compared with 2019, according to WardsAuto.com. Class 8 sales climbed above 19,000, but still that was down nearly 32% compared with a year ago when they reached an all-time monthly record of 28,258 units. In the medium-duty segment, sales were flat measured against year-ago levels. The 20,268 trucks sold was steadied by about a 36% gain in Classes 4-5. In the 2019 period, medium-duty sales totaled nearly 20,300.
