The industry awoke Sept. 21 to the stunning news that Trevor Milton had stepped down as executive chairman from the company he founded, Nikola Corp. In a tweet, Milton said he stepped aside to defend allegations of deceptive practices, and that the focus should be on the company and its mission. Milton expressed faith in Steve Girsky, a former General Motors vice chairman who has been named chairman at Nikola. Nikola’s stock dropped by more than 19% Sept. 21 on the news.
